9X23 Winchester maximum pressure standard

I emailed Winchester and asked them what the maximum pressure limit is for the 9X23 Winchester cartridge. The Winchester Technical Department's response was 55,000 psi.

There has been much speculation on the internet about what the maximum pressure is for this cartridge. Most sources that I've seen suggest that the 9X23 has no specific SAAMI standards, and I know that it's not in the SAAMI booklet that I have. Some folks have listed the 9X23's maximum pressure from less than 50,000 and up to 55,000, but it has not been clear what the source was for that information. The Winchester 15th Edition Reloader's Manual lists their maximum load data at 46,000 psi. But, of course, this does not necessarily mean that 46,000 psi is the maximum limit for the cartridge, only that it is the pressure for the data in the manual.

I didn't know if this is common knowledge to some readers. But it was nice to get an official number from Winchester, and I thank them for their quick and definitive response to my question.
