dsb45acp
+1, and thanks to the Sailors who rescued the Captain. Pirates aren't real bright. Shooting at a destroyer with a AK 47 is about like shooting a tank with a BB gun, never a good outcome
Religious Shooter
I read that one of the pirates criet "Arrrr matey. You got me!" after the Navy SEAL put two in his chest.

Pat Miles
It is beyond my imagination that these huge shipping companies refuse to have people on board to protect and stop the pirates from hijacking their ships and crew. Ransoms paid in the millions per ship as opposed to having a protection detail on board. The pirates in their boats would be cannon fodder for a marksman with a Barrett forty feet above them. Jim Rusert
Hooray for the US Navy. God bless them and the Captain, as well as his family! F**k the pirates.

Still your point is valid......they seem to put up no defense at all. Any details like range and sea conditions at time of action? A bobbing target in life boat at say 250 yards from our destroyer, next to the kidnapped Captain? Decent shooting for sure. BB

Religious Shooter
Cool... would make a good stage at a PBR match. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/piracy MOMBASA, Kenya – U.S. Navy snipers opened fire and killed three pirates holding an American captain at gunpoint, delivering the skipper unharmed and ending a five-day high-seas hostage drama on Easter Sunday.... dirtypool40
yeah I posted on this over in the pool forum, and the Libs blasted me as being insensitive. I said a stated, demostrated policy of "We KILL hostage takers DEAD" would put a quick end to taking Americans Hostages.

I think a few cruise missles are in order.... might as well put a stop to this crap once and for all!! Jim
Jim Rusert
I propose a change in name from "pirates" to "water-borne terrorists". Jack Sparrow they are not.

I know, cruise missiles are cheaper and JDAM's are cheaper yet, but everytime I see footage of all 9 16 inchers firing a broadside it gives me goosebumps. BB CNN just had a former SEAL on and he may have let a small cat out of the bag. He started by saying they used equipment enhancements that he was not at liberty to discuss but then used the words "stabilizing devices or features" or words along those lines. Wonder what he is talking about. Can you imagine a stabilized rifle platform similar to a tank stabilization system. No more misses, ever.
