18" Barrel - where can I get one?

I've really had my mind set on an 18" barrel from JP. Unfortunately, they told me they are not even accepting backorders until perhaps the summer due to their heavy demand for complete rifles.

What sources can anyone recommend for a similiar 18" three-gun barrel? I think I want something with a rifle-length gas system, but I would also like to hear opinions on that.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Pretty much the same question in this very recent thread, but looking for a 20" barrel. The answers to the previous thread would be a great place for you to start looking.

Try SA Friday's recommendation of White Oak Armament. I'm sure they'll be backorderd though. Or, try Gentleman Jim of Firebird.......an 18" barrel is hiding in every 20".

I would give Compass Lake Engineering a call. Their barrels are semi to fully custom but well worth the money. They built a mean 18" Stainless fully fluted for me which I use on my 3 gun rifle. Love it.

+1 they seem to be a good bunch to deal with. I just ordered my second barrel from them. The first one was delivered right on time in about 4 weeks.

Fulton Armory has 18" "Navy SPR" barrels supposedly from Douglass for $399. I ordered it and an M4 profile barrel chrome lined, stripped ($299) and actually got them within a week or so of making the order recently. They were literally the only folks I could find that had any barrels in stock so I went out on a limb and bought those two. The 18" is a rifle gas, med contour, chrome moly steel. Overall fit and finish appears good, were packaged well.

I will give a report in a week or so once I can finish assembling the upper and get out to test fire it.

Throw a want AD on places like AR15.com or Snipershide.com. I was in same mess, have a DPMS on order with a wait time of 5-8 months. Found a couple of guys who had take-off barrels. Just got a Wilson blank for $145.00 and a brand new Armalite 20" for $220. The barrels are out there you just have to look. I wanted a 1:9 twist, lots of guys are selling the 7's and 8's though.

www.ar15barrels.com has a very good reputation. I've never ordered from him, but plan on it for my next. Also, I have no idea if he's back logged or not.

You might want to re-think dealing with this guy.
