Neomet
Doing some ROing at TNS and had a shooter having trouble on a stand and deliver stage with his gun not cycling properly. He tries to rack the gun with an overhand grip and fires a round off. I yell stop and we call it a day for him. The shooter was absolutely great about it and understood the call. I play this back in my mind and I can see his finger in the guard but I couldn't even get the "f" in "finger" out before the bang. Bummer. I wish I could see things in real time at the speed I see them when I do the replays in my head. Might have averted a DQ for the guy and an AD while I was in control of the stage. Bummer. edited because I don't can't spell. Edited April 9, 2009 by Neomet
warpspeed
Remember, he DQ'd himself. You had nothing to do with it.
jasmap
You sure you were using the "f" in finger and not another word? You know you did what you had to do. The shooter DQ'd himself and you did your duty as the RO Rick. It sucks for both of you.
boz1911
I was asked to "Stop" for the same thing a few years ago when I was a newbie. Believe me he doesn't feel bad, he was probably as shocked as I was when it happened. Edited April 9, 2009 by boz1911
Shawn Knight
Not your fault Rick! We can't prevent them all!
larry cazes
When I have to DQ someone it always darkens the match for me. Hopefully the shooter will learn from it and improve his gun handling skills. Doesnt sound like there is anything you could have done differently to change the outcome.
3quartertime
AD's are the worsest of the worst kind of DQ's, but at least the shooter can't argue he didn't do it! I was RO'ing a shotgun stage once and when an open shooter flipped the shotgun over to do the reload somehow one of the dowel rods from the reloading tubes got inside the trigger guard. I remember for an instant seeing what was going on then, BOOM!!! The AD was down range, but it was pretty scary regardless. Sounds like you did it just right.
