The old conceits

The glib replies

The same defeats

Keep your finger on the

button issues

With the crocodile tears

and a pocket full

of tissues

I'm just the artist lick

In a wind up world

With a nervous tick

And a very fashionable harbor

I met you

Before the fall of Rome

To let me take you home

You were wrong

I was right

You said goodbye

I said good night

Yep, doing their Bon Jovi meets the Rolling Stones. How about:

Starin' slowly cross the sky, he said goodbye

He was just the hired hand

Workin' on the dreams he planned to try

The days go by

Every night when the sun goes down

He's just another lonely boy in town

While she's out runnin' round.

This should be easy- I think even Leroy should get this one. :)

That's the best Eagles song ever. Makes you want grab a bottle of Petron and watch the sun come up!

How about this one -

Way down by lake Texoma where he coaches football

They were two A champions now for two years running

But he says they won't be this year no they won't be this year

And he stopped off in Tushka at that "Pop's Knife and Gun" place

Bought a SKS rifle and a couple a full cases of that steel core ammo

With the berdan primers from some East bloc nation that no longer needs 'em

And a Desert Eagle that's one great big ol' pistol

I mean .50 caliber made by badass Hebrews

And some surplus tracers for that old BAR of Slayton's

Soon as it gets dark we're gonna have us a time

I'm not huge on the Eagles, nor country, but that is one of my favorite songs of all time. Those lyrics stick and the music just puts me in a good place. Shows you that a good song is good no matter what. As for that last one WTF?? :surprise: Those are some twisted lyrics. definitely not a feel good thing coming through there.

That is the great James McMurtry's Choctaw Bingo. It is actually a great song by a guy who has spent a lot of time in his room learning to play the guitar-he is a ripping player. Check it out.

It's Texas time I see. Tonight my heart aches for Texas....

Here's one-

The name she gave was Caroline

daughter of a miner

and her ways were free and it seemed to me

That sunshine walked beside her

She came to Spencer, across the hill

she said her pa had sent her

‘cause the coal was low and soon the snow

Would turn the skies to winter

This one is sung best by a singer from Austin.

Yep Tecumseh Valley by Townes Van Zandt. He wrote Pancho and Lefty, too. The version I like is by Nanci Griffith. Here's one:

I worry I weigh three times my body

I worry, I throw my fear around

This morning is a calm I can't explain

The rock candy's melted, only diamonds now remain

By the time I recognize this moment this moment will be gone..............

That would be John Mayer.

"Clarity" I do believe

If you hear this message, wherever you stand

I'm calling every woman, calling every man

We're the generation

We can't afford to wait

The future started yesterday and we're already late

If You're Out There by John Legend

Thy this one on for size... goes back to the 70"s B)

There's strange feeling coming down

It's moving deep inside us

Turbulent smoke the signals

Sirens sound around us

Push and pull, man, pull them back

Twisting far and near

In a blood cold reality

Flows a raging river of fear

Propaganda death ensemble

Burial to be

Corpses rotting through the night

In blood laced misery

Scorched earth the policy

The reason for the singe

The pendulum it shaves the blade

The strafing air blood raid

this song gets me up every morning :roflol:

Correct. Sammy Hagar would also have been acceptable.

Ya know...I should have my metal card revoked for blurting out the "answer" to that prior post. I know that song is from the "Unboxed" album. I think it was released around '93 or '94. I would like to return my trophy. The correct answer is Sammy not VH. I will now go to the corner and hang my once headbanging head in shame. I hate myself. <_<

My turn, so try this one:

A moment of steel

A dry-eyed house

Did he say goodbye to you

Or did you kick him out

I know you're not afraid

To go alone

But this was a marriage of spirit, flesh, and bone

John Haitt, Cry Love

I am going for a resurection -

Here is one that bounced around the Radio a while back:

I stopped an old man along the way,

Hoping to find some old forgotten words or ancient melodies

He turned to me as if to say, Hurry boy, It's waiting there for you

Toto, Africa

Changes come before we can go

Learn to see them before we're too old

Don't just take me for tryin' to be heavy

Understand, it's time to get ready for the storm

Stevie Ray Vaughan

Couldn't stand the Weather

My turn-

it's a black sky formin' on the ridge

it's a woman waitin' standin' on the bridge

it's the price that you pay for walkin' on the ledge

it's everything you do and nothin' that you did

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils

I guess I'm up, so here goes...

Freeze, said the man cruisin' the beat

You get your hands up and spread your feet

Don't you move an inch, I heard him say

Or you'll be doin' time until the judgement day

Don't tell me no lies, give me alibis

'Cause if you cross my path, you'll be doin' life
