How about this ?

Here's to you old skinny Dennis

Only one I think I will miss

I can hear that old bass singing

Sweet and low like a gift you're bringin'

Play it for me just one more time now

Got to give it all we can now

I beleive everything your saying

Just keep on, keep on playing

Alright Dave, here's one for you:

Temptation-

Why won't you leave me alone?

Lurking every corner. Everywhere I go

Self control-

Don't turn your back on me now

when I need you most

Constant pressure tests my will

My will or my wont

My self control escapes from me still.........

ok, dave...try this one:

As she abused a sausage pattie,

And said why don't you treat me mean?

I admit, I had to look it up  I'm not a Zappa guy, dude, sorry... ;) Although the man had some freaking amazing drummers in his cadre at various points of time...

Oh no you di'int... Dude, my band opened for Dream Theater in Atlanta on the Images and Words tour, before that album really hit. I sat and drank beers w/ Mike Portnoy all night after the show. Very very cool dude. Awake was not my favorite DT album, though.... But The Mirror isn't a bad tune... Actually, they kind of lost me after the IaW albume - that one, and the song Change of Seasons are the only DT stuff I still dig... Anyway...

I need to come up w/ a good one for you

Ok... here's one...

To touch the roots of experience

The most basic ingredients

To see the unseen glitter of life

And feel the dirt, grief, anger and strife

Cherish the certainly of now

It kills you a bit at a time

Cradle the inspiration

It will leave you writhing on the floor...

Ok, Clint... Try this one...

Self-absorbed, I had lost my faith,

I was breaking down from your apathy,

Now it feeds my hatred for all you stand for

I can't live like this one minute more

So, just how much blood do you have to swallow?

Before you can lead, you must refuse to follow.

Now I bite the hand that starves me

Don't look so surprised, its you that created me

See what you can do with this

Was it already there in the womb?

Were we pulled out way too soon?

Were we quiet too long? Were we too small?

Or were we dropped on the floor?

Could it be something we ate?

Did they let us stay up too late?

Were there not enough rules?

Did we get too much love?

Was it something they taught us in school?

'Cause inside something bad's awakened

The evil opens it's eyes

The temper's rising and the house is shaking

To get out is no longer an option

These are the kids of the beast

Good, how about this:

======================================

Back in 1095, when the call to arms came

We had the red cross sown on

Sent to save the holy land and crush the infidels

With strength form above

Hammerfall, Steel Meets Steel.

That mean I get two now?

My newest ......

"Oh, the heads that turn

Make my back burn

And those heads that turn

Make my back, make my back burn

The sparkle in your eyes

Keeps me alive

And the sparkle in your eyes

Keeps me alive, keeps me alive

The world

And the world turns around

The world and the world, yeah

The world drags me down

Oh, the heads that turn

Make my back burn

And those heads that turn

Make my back, make my back burn, yeah"

Okay, then here's my second one:

"Please come now I think I’m falling

I’m holding on to all I think is safe

It seems I found the road to nowhere

And I’m trying to escape

I yelled back when I heard thunder

But I’m down to one last breath

And with it let me say

Let me say"

Hurry up and get this one so I can recoprocate. I've got a goodie saved up...

Its in the snippet he posted ;)

I have no clue. Never was a Creed fan. The Alter Bridge stuff that Tremonti did after Creed is pretty cool. Just couldn't tolerate Scott Stapp..................LAME!!

here's an old one:

Newcastle Brown, I'm tellin' you, it can sure smack you down;

Take a greasy whore and a rollin' dance floor,

It's got your head spinnin' round.

If you live on the road, well there's a new highway code;

You take the urban noise with some dirt with poison,

It's gonna lessen your load.

Name of the song is "One Last Breath", I think?

Come on, Ken, you owe us another one! :D

Pretty sure it's "six feet from the edge", but I will check. I'll post another when I get home. Maybe some rap...? I'm sure there are some rap fans here...

OK - a REALLY Old one.

There'll be Smoke on the Water, on the land and the sea,

When our Army and our Navy overtakes the enemy,

There'll be smoke on the mountains where the heathen Gods stay,

And the sun that is rising will go down on that day.

For there is a great destroyer made of fire and flesh and steel,

Rolling toward the foes of freedom, they'll go down beneath it's wheel,

They'll be nothing left but vultures to inhabit all that land,

When our modern ships and bombers make a graveyard of Japan

Hint - it spent 13 weeks at the top of the charts in 1944

Change of genre.

"I left Oklahoma drivin' in a Pontiac

Just about to lose my mind

I was goin' on to Arizona, maybe on to California

Where all the people live so fine

My baby said I was crazy, my momma called me lazy

I was goin' to show 'em all this time

'Cause you know I ain't no fool an' I don't need no more schoolin'

I was born to just walk the line."

If ya'll don't get this one fast, I'll be mighty dissapointed... <_<

"Smoke on the Water", the original one. If in 1944, then I believe it was Red Foley...?
