The program is designed for entry level and officers currently assigned to the position. This course of study is designed to take the tactical officer to the next level of police sniper training. Students can expect training time of approximately 46-48 hours.

Course includes a review of basic and intermediate topics. This course offers intensive study in precision rifle and police sniper skills. The student will participate in classroom training along with field and shooting exercises designed to challenge their marksmanship, teamwork, observation and communication skills, judgement, and performance under stress. Cutting edge interactive Live-fire judgement training (Sniper simulator) evolutions with realistic full moving target scenarios are integrated into this class. Curriculum includes, but not limited to; Live fire on Urban Environments, Severe Angle, Realistic moving Targets, Intermediate Distances and Intermediate Barriers. Positive Target Identification, Fieldcraft and Movement, Effective Camouflage, Ranging, External Ballistics, Position Shooting and Proper selection and use of a sniper sling, Cold Bore and Data Book Documentation, Rifle Handling Skills, Role and Responsibilities, Tactical Communication, Urban Hide Selection, Practical Shooting Exercises, Dim Light Orientation, Case Studies, Proficiency Course of Fire and participation in written examination review culminate in a certificate of proficiency upon successful completion of the qualification course and simulation evolutions.

Shooting exercises for this school are designed for the bolt action law enforcement rifle equipped with telescopic sight adjustable for elevation and windage. Note: in order to successfully complete the school, the rifle/ammo combination should be capable of consistently firing a five (5) shot group not larger than one minute of angle. (One inch at 100 yards). It is suggested that the caliber be not less than .223 nor greater than .300 Win Mag.

Signature from Department head, Chief of Police or Agency Director required. Students are responsible for their own ammunition, transportation, meals, and lodging arrangements. Crosshairs Inc. is not responsible for any expenses incurred in the event the training is canceled for any reason.

PLEASE NOTE: all applications and tuition/PO’s must be received prior to beginning of class. Tuition includes a comprehensive classroom manual, and all classroom and range materials. Confirmation will be sent upon receipt of application and tuition.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: 450 rounds -match grade duty ammo required

 Scope-sighted rifle (semi-automatic or bolt action) capable of holding five (5) rounds. 1 ¼ inch sling swivels and/or bi-pod. (w / cleaning equipment)

 Safety glasses with protective side panels & hearing protection.

 Shooting glove/hand protection (weak hand) for sling abrasion.

 Clothing suitable for classroom & range environments. Range exercises will be conducted in existing weather conditions. Foul weather gear is recommended.

 Duty flashlight (one handed operation)

 All operational gear (which would be taken on a callout)

 Camouflaged uniform / Gillie & camouflage materials

 Military type (US GI) rifle sling (leather or web 1 ¼ inch)

 Spotting scope (25 power recommended) / Binoculars

 Range Finder

 Drag Bag, Mat, ground cloth (Do not bring competition equipment to this school)

 Students are responsible for their own ammunition. Minimum requirement per student is 400 rounds. Match grade ammunition is STRONGLY recommended. *The qualification course must be fired with service ammunition issued by the individual’s agency.

INSTRUCTOR: Edward F. Gross is a recognized law enforcement consultant in the area of precision shooting and police sniping. A 30 year veteran of police work he had provided instruction on precision shooting and police sniping to over 600 officers from a broad spectrum of law enforcement agencies throughout the country and internationally. He’s been involved in heavy barrel rifle marksmanship since 1982, and tactical police operations since 1987. He holds a BA from Franklin Pierce College, numerous instructor certifications in police sniping, and awards for precision shooting. He is a recipient of the “Distinguished Rifleman Badge” awarded by the US Army for excellence in competition at the national level and is the 1141st civilian to earn this distinction since 1891. He is the Director of Crosshairs, Inc., a training corporation created to provide professional sniper training for law enforcement community – training law enforcement since 1990.

Gross served as an adjunct instructor for the S&W and SIG Arms Academy, specializing in the Advanced Tactical Scoped Rifle Training programs. He’s managing Director of Crosshairs, Inc., a training corporation created to provide professional sniper training for law enforcement community. Ed is the current Vice-president of the American Sniper Association; a non-profit law enforcement organization dedicated to the professional development of law enforcement snipers.

It's an advertisement for a training school that, I'd esitmate, 95% of this board would NOT be allowed to attend.

I suggest it be removed to prevent another mil/leo vs. everyone else argument.

If it is to stay posted, then maybe Crosshairs Inc. should become a sponsor/dealer on BE.
