550 shopping list for overseas

Recommended Posts

Hi! Need Good advice!

I mainly shoot 40 SW and 9 mm. I dont know anything about reloading. But with the cost of ammo here, I've decided to purchase a Dillon 550B reloader. I dont however know what else I have to get to be able to reload. I've asked a friend to get my equipment from the U.S. because the cost here is absolutely prohibitive, example: the 550B (US)$670+; .40 Conversion Kit $70+/-; Primer Flip Tray $35+/-; etc. BELIEVE IT!!!

I therefore must get my shopping list complete and correct the first time or ending up buying it here at double the price!

Here's my shopping list:

550B

CV-500 Euro Vibratory Case Cleaner

Conv Kit 9mm Parabellum

Conv Kit .40 S&W

Powder Die

Toolhead

Toolhead Stand

Primer Flip Tray

Primer Pickup tubes

Caliper

.40 S&W 3 Die Set

.9 mm 3 Die Set

Spare Decapping Pins

550B Video Instruction Manual

Reloader 40SW Manual

Reloader 9mm Manual

Minus the brass, lead & powder;

- Is this all I will need?

- Anything else I should get now; or because I will need it later?

- How many of what should I have?

I plan to have my friend get them from Brian which even has a discount?!

Thanks :D

You'll need to locally find crushed walnut shell media for the tumbler. Also protective eyewear. And an impact bullet puller.

Add to your list these items from Brianenos.com:

- media separator

- 550 spare parts kit

- additional powder measure if you do not want to hassle with changing powders and charges when changing calibers

Add to your list these items if you can't get them locally:

- Hornady One-Shot case lube

- cartridge gauges for both calibers

I would leave off the Dillon dies, and get Lee's new(er) 4-die set, which included the Factory Crimp Die(FDC).

The FDC is a must. The Lee dies cost half as much.

Make sure you have plenty of primer pick-up tubes (more than 4). It sucks to be in the middle of reloading and have to stop to load tubes.
