Let's have a special holiday (prize-wise) game for this month.

The Game

Below are the beginnings of 3 sentences. Whoever finishes each sentence as closely to as I would ;) will be the winner.

The Rules

Only your first post, with all 3 completed sentences, counts.

Everyone can play - Mods, Admins, even previous winners from this year.

Time Frame

The game will end December 17, at 5:00 PM, MST. So the winner can re-gift in time for Christmas, if so inclined.

The Prize

The winner can select $100 worth items from my store's Combo Deal page.

The Sentences

1.

As a shooter, your most important job is... (Easy one.)

2.

A goal of practice should not be... (You can also add a folllow-up sentence if you're feeling it.)

3.

Whatever you are trying...

No rush, remember you have until 5:00 PM, MST, 12.17.08, and only your first post counts.

#1. to be safe when practicing with your firearm.

#2. Unrealistic. Set realistic goals and be satisified with your progress.

#3. you will not achieve. Don't try..just let it happen naturally.

As a shooter your most important job is to shoot alphas efficiently.

2.

A goal of practice should not be... (You can also add a folllow-up sentence if you're feeling it.)

A goal of practice should not be to master "skills," for there is always room for improvement. Rather, the goal of practice should be to be open to learning, to noticing with all senses, so the information gathered can be digested and incorporated into shooting.

Whatever you are trying...

Whatever you are trying you will fail to accomplish, as when you are trying you are not performing at your peak.

1. As a shooter, your most important job is to locate the target, get the gun on the target, and keep the gun on the target while you fire the shot.

2. A goal of practice should not be to learn to shoot, but rather to learn as you shoot. Experience the shooting through awareness and focus; observe the shooting as it is happening and let the shooting tell you its story

3. Whatever you are trying to do, as opposed to just seeing as it actually happens, will be subject to the limitations of your conscious mind; trying stifles creativity in your actions and removes you from the experience.

1. As a shooter, your most important job is... to safely hit what you are aiming at.

2. A goal of practice should not be... only practice that which you are already proficient. Practice the things you don't do well, but remember to maintain your already developed skills.

3. Whatever you are trying... won't work. Don't try, DO. (thanks Yoda)

3.

Whatever you are trying... you also perceive; always find the goodness in it.

Not sure if it makes sense to anybody.

3. Whatever you are trying...do not be afraid to fail. ("...try your best." is just too easy)

be aware of everything that is happening.

2.

A goal of practice should not be... to consciously place your attention anywhere. Instead just shoot with your goal being to remember what you saw and felt.

3.

Whatever you are trying...will remove your focus from what you need to be experiencing. Just see and feel all that is going on.

I hope I didn't muck this up too bad... so many things that I would expect to hear were BE and I to discuss anything besides my next Dillon component purchase.

A goal of practice should not be to test what skills you already have, but rather to explore and feel out new methods.

3.

Whatever you are trying, you will fail at. Your best chance at success is to let your subconscience and skills dictate your actions

Okay here's my entry.

1.As a shooter your most important job is to see what you need to see.

2.A goal of practice should not be. Shoot as many rounds down range as you can. You should learn something new from each practice.

3.Whatever you are trying. Experience it, learn from it, refine it, use it.

2.

A goal of practice should not be going as fast as possible. Keep everything in perspective and practice being "smooth".

3.

Whatever you are trying, Keep trying but keep your mind open to other things as well.

A goal of practice should not be to pull the trigger as many times as possible. Always make sure that your goal is quality, not quantity.

Make sure i shoot safely and guide others as well

2.

A goal of practice should not be...

stop when your hand bleed from dry firing, take it as a quality practice not as many times you draw

3.

Whatever you are trying...

still have Fun or else you get burnt out :rolleyes:

As a shooter, your most important job is... to remain focused, but fully open to what is happening at that time.

2.

A goal of practice should not be... to work only on your 'comfortable' skills. You must apply your time to those tasks which create anxiety during matches (movers, plates, shooting on the move, etc.).

3.

Whatever you are trying... brings the excess baggage of expectations. Simply observe, and do.

1. As a shooter, your most important job is to know right where the bullet will hit the target at the instant the shot fired.

2. A goal of practice should not be to accomplish anything, except to remember what you felt and saw while you held your attention in a specific place.

3. Whaterver you are trying, shall not be performed to its fullest potential. In an attempt to achieve anything, you are prevented from seeing it done while you are busy trying to do it.

As a shooter your most important job is to keep the gun on the target until the bullet has left the barrel.

a goal of practice should not be to beat your friends. You are there to improve your shooting skills not the size of your ego.

whatever you are trying, give it some time, let it settle in before deciding if it is a better way.
