Cutting 6" slide to 5"

I have a 6" a les bear slide on 2011 STI frame but is no use in IPSC and I don't shoot precision anymore, so I would like to cut it on 5" size. Can it be done? I'll do the same with a barrel.

You can cut the slide but you will lose the bushing groove so new barrel, or old one, will need a cone sleeve.

Now I have 6" bushing barrel, and yes i was thinking of buying new 5" bull barrel or maybe it's possible to made custom bushing to fit cutted barrel.

Sounds like you are not in the USA, but I know Venry (Radical Precision Designs) has done a threaded bushing. Such a part may be the solution you need.

alot of people like 6 inch guns. Sell it and buy a 5 inch slide and barrel.

As splashdown guessed I am not from USA. So I shoot IPSC where 6" isn't allowed in standard (limited). The gun is out of use more than a year now, so I just like to build a 5" standard 9mm minor gun for my girlfriend and maybe later buy conversion kit for open to have some fun at steel matches. Oh BTW what paint do I need to paint a STI grip.
