OPENB
I am currently shooting a Meopta Kdot, and I love the illum. reticle. I'm going to Benning in two weeks, and I remember the 400 yd. shots kicking my butt. I want a low power variable that has decent illum.,and a ranging reticle that will allow bdc out to 600 yds. I really want a IOR 1.5-8x26, but the $1360 is a bit high for my budget. The Burris XTR sounds interesting, but I'm reading about some fuzz on the some lens and don't want to go down the Millett DMS-1 route again, as far as quality goes. If Meopta made the Kdot in a ranging reticle, I'd buy two. Any advise? I shoot open, with a Docter on the handguard.
ken hebert
ACOG sounds like your ticket if you are doing the open thing. 4x with BDC.
Derek45
I haven't heard anything about "fuzz" on the BURRIS XTR ? ? ? ? I just got one and like it.
Chuck Anderson
Mine is the one with fuzz on it. Still looks like a good scope and I'm sure Burris will take care of it for me. I just didn't have time to deal with it before Benning.
jobob
You guys are almost getting me to spring for a Burris. But, I really want one of the new Accupoint 1-4x 30mm scopes when they come out. I don't think they'll have ranging capability, though. Dang, why can't I get everything I want in one scope? (Sorry for the thread drift.) Edited November 23, 2008 by jobob
smokshwn
Stick with the Meopta. If you will run a 300 yd zero it is very easy to quickly make hits out to 400+ yds by learning the holdover/unders for any given target size. Then you still get the cleanleness of the Kdot reticle for alittle more speed. Edited November 23, 2008 by smokshwn

Zreo the center of the dot at 250yds the 200 yard zero is top of the dot. the bottom of the dot is 300 the top of the vertical post is 400 and the bottom is 500. What could be easier? I know there aren't any cross marks but it has worked well for many Meopta shooters! KurtM
AlamoShooter
Ok I need some Meopta Kdot help too. The bottom of the post did not work for me at 500 yards. All my longer range exsperianc is with target scopes and adjusting the min I need to elevation and wind. I am trying to learn the hold over. What I want to know is - How many minuts tall the vertical post in the Meopta Kdot? is it 10 min. tall? or 8 min tall? Is the gap between the dot and the top of the post 2Min? I have had very limited time at the range to be able to work it out. If I sight in at 200 top of the dot = at 300 the bottom of the dot is +6" and I need 8" (If the dot and top of the post are 2min apart ) @ 400 yards the top of the post is +16" and I need 27" Added this the next day I played Hooky and went to the range Yes the Vertical post is 10 min tall and the gap from the dot to post (Side and Bot ) is 2 min So from the top of the dot to the bottom of the vertical post it is 14 MOA Edited November 24, 2008 by AlamoShooter
kurtm
My bad this is for a 55 gr bullet at around 3150-3200 fps. If you are a heavy shooter you might need to figure differently. KurtM

KurtM OK that makes up the difference with the 55 going 3200. As best as I can measure the gap is 2min at 4 power -But I can not tell if the vertical post is 8 min tall or 10 min tall? I hope to work it out Tuesday.
OPENB
I went out and shot my Meopta again today, and am going to keep running it. I'm shooting 69gr. Noslers over 25.5gr. of Varget. These are freakin lasers! I zero'd at 200. At 300, I put the center of the dot on his head, and nailed him in the chest , 1moa. At 400, I held the top of the stadia line even with the top of his head, and 10 shots went into his chest that my buddy spotting covered with his open hand. All these ranging reticles got me nervous and thinking I needed a new bow, instead of making the the injun' go practice. My confidence goes up everytime I shoot it. IF I were in the market and setting up a 3gun rifle from scratch, I would definitely be looking hard at Burris and IOR, though.
