G-ManBart Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) When they offered these I figured I had to order one....might be worth something some day and it's kinda neat even though I'm not a Glock guy....strange that I now have five of them!. I got a pretty cool serial # totally by accident: FBI2111. Sorry the pic isn't any better....I threw it in the case and took a couple of quick pics before it gets dark. Since someone might ask, no, the name FBI isn't 100 years old, but the agency is...started out at the Bureau of Investigation. I keep wondering what they're going to do for the 100th anniversary of the name Edit to add: the markings on the slide are engraved. Edited November 16, 2008 by G-ManBart
RIIID Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 How did Glock get away with using the FBI prefix when Springfield had to stop using that prefix when they started making the FBI's "Bureau" model. They now call it the "Professional" with a CRG prefix. Rich
VegasOPM Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Looks like it would be too hard to keep the engraving clean after shooting it.

They now call it the "Professional" with a CRG prefix.Rich I think because this run of guns was made at the request of the Agent's Association, with approval of the Bureau leadership, and was only available to active or retired agents whereas they do offer the Professional model to the public in small numbers....but that's just a guess on my part. The CRG prefix might actually come from another Bureau accronym (Critical Response Group), but my memory might be wrong on that one. R,
Chris Keen Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Most (if not all) of the "commemorative" Glocks have been G-17's therefore 9mm.
G-ManBart Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) What is the caliber? Sorry, forgot to list that...it's a standard Glock 22 in .40 S&W. What's kind of funny is that the G22 has been standard issue for a while and they just switched to the G23. It's gone back and forth a few times. They have issued G23s in the past, but not nearly as many as 22s. They had to suspend the personally owned weapon program until they could replace some of the gunsmiths, so nobody has been able to purchase a G19/23/G26/27 and some of the smaller agents have been having a problem concealing the G22, so I think that's why the current move to the 23. I think that'll change again in a couple of months as new smiths come on board (they individually inspect and test every gun that gets purchased for duty use (regardless of whether it's purchased on contract or individually).
