DPMS 308 lower

I pick up a DPMS 308 lower at the gun show yesterday, plus some 19 round DPMS magazines, that I plan to build into a rifle. I know next to nothing about the 308 AR's, so I have a few questions.

Getting magazines is a primary concern right now. Do Armilite AR10 mags, or any other mags for that matter, fit the DPMS lower, or do I have to use the DPMS mags?

How interchangeable are parts from different venders. For example, can a upper from one vender fit on a lower from a different vender? Can a bolt and bolt carrier from one vender fit an upper from a different vender (yes, I know about head spacing)?

Any additional information that you think would be important would be helpful.

Thanks for your help.

Jim

Armalite uses modified M14 mag.

DPMS uses the same mag design as the original 1660's era AR10, and the SR-25.

I don't believe DPMS and Armalite uppers are compatible either

Derek is correct.

If you want the very best in a build, my suggestion would be either GA Precision or Patriot Arms and either can be located with a basic google search. If their work is out of your budget, there are a number of other smiths who I am sure can build you an upper or you can always just call up DPMS and order one assembled at the factory.

A word of caution. According to those who know far more about this than I, at one time there were some problems with DPMS mags. My suggestion woud be to buy what you need from DPMS since the bargain ones you might find at a match might be less of a bargain than you desired.
