Ed Robinson
I had a piece of broken linkage on my loader 2 weeks ago as I was loading for this saturdays match. I thought a caught it right when the linkage broke but I weighed 8 or 10 random cartridges to make sure all were powder charged and all looked good. I finished loading the last 40 or 50 single stage in case I couldn't get the parts in time for the match. Went to the match saturday and on the first stage I had a squib! I thought maybe that was the only one. Finished the first stage and was shooting my best match so far. Moved on to the mover and shot the best mover score I had ever shot, 434. Fired the barricade match and had another squib but still managed to eek out a good score even though I had 6 misses due to the squib. Got to the plates and lo and behold the first shot was a squib. I was able to clear it, reload and restart the stage. 2nd, 3rd and 4th shots hit the plates then the 5th shot was another squib. At that point I was so frustrated I bowed out of the match due to the ammo problems. When I got home I weighed the rest of my ammo and found 4 more that were non powder charged. The worse part is I have never had a squib load before and I ended up having 11 at one match! Oh well, chalk it up to experience and get ready for the next match. Singlestack Dan
While only about 1500 rounds into my new SDB I heard a loud KRAKKKK!!! ( <----- Bat Man homage sound effect) on the down stroke. I couldn't figure out where the noise came from, and upon examination of the press, it seemed to be O.K., so away I loaded. I weigh the charge throughout the loading process, and all was good, but I suddenly started to get OAL variances outside of "normal". The rounds were consistently getting longer. I adjusted the OAL, which brought er' back into the normal range, but then they started getting longer again. Finally, I heard another KRAKKKK!!!, and upon investigating the press, I found one of the links had broken. Mystery solved. Dylan was squared away as they mailed me a spare no charge, and the dude on the phone was like "...hmm, well, if that one broke, the other one might too, so I'll send you two!" Good gig. Soon after, the little plastic "thingie" at the end of the primer tube gave out, of which I had no replacement. I had to load each primer by HAND in the primer thingamajig on the press until Dylan sent me a couple more plastic "thingies". What a pain... SharonAnne9x23
any other brand you would have paid for the parts and waited longer. BTW,Mike Dillon makes reloading presses, Bob Dylan sings (sort of).
