Brian Enos's Forums... Maku mozo!

I caught a critter...now what? Steel1212 are you there?

I took off work today to get caught up on things...and wait for the UPS guy bringing my WC CQB ;) back fresh and new from Wilson...

So I decide to do some laundry. I'm picking somethings off the floor and I see one of the dogs toys - not too much a surprise. I pick up something else and there's another one but smaller...dang dogs...it moved, huh.

It isn't showing aggression (you don't jump - I won't jump B->) so I stand there figuring this out. Not a rat whew...too big for a mouse? - it is a balled up and sleeping chipmunk! Sometimes we leave the back door open for fresh air, dogs in/out, so I guess he made the break for indoors. Now I HAVE to catch this thing or the GF will NOT sleep, be happy...dogs will not rest...HK will not rest.

Chip just stretched like a dog and curled back up and went back to sleep. I stepped over him using my best "ninja" steps (prepared to deploy my Judy-chop although I would hate to) and grabbed a clear ~2 gallon plastic box and set it over him. I carefully pulled away the laundry trapped underneath except for the shirt he's sleeping on...I pile two 7.62 battlepacks on top and there he sleeps...

So, is he sleeping...going into hibernation although too early?...or tired from lack of food...

I might be able to flip him up with the shirt and - maybe - get the lid on to take him outside. This depends on a couple of things...

1. How fast will he wake up and jump...

2 and how fast can I do the flip/close lid maneuver...

Initially I thought, I'll grab him and carry him outside...thankfully the coffee started getting through and the thought of rabies shots and the ER again this weekend stopped that plan of action. Do they even carry much disease?

dogs bacring ups?

Slide a large enough piece of cardboard or similarly flat material under the entire package and carry it outside. Release. That puts the lid on the bottom without turning the whole thing over. You KNOW if you try to flip it over and trap him you'll be chasing him through the house for the next few years!

He'll do fine outside.

This seems to be the best route now that most of the other clothes are pulled out.

kill it and send me the skin!

I need a hat!

Chipmunks don't tend toward agression.

They are pretty fearless and given a choice it will run.

Open the door in case he escapes, do the cardboard slide,

and take him out.

I think he decided your basement is a big burrow. plenty of room for everybody.

Merlin - I said I used my Ninja-stepping...

Chip is now outside using a combo of the slipping top on up side down and the last second box flip.

I locked the dogs inside while I released him out into the backyard. He's a bit disoriented but finally smelled the great outdoors and took off cautiously.

And for all the help this am...here's whet the UPS guy brought me...and yes THIS is on my "bucket list"

Is the relief on the grip a Wilson feature. Look "gamey" to me.... :surprise::devil:

Not only is it gamey...they are factory WC grips...otherwise I would have held out for flush fit magwell/grips...I thought about doing that to my VZ G10 grips after I got these - I really like the relief.

Actually- not the range but on a long road trip to see Mom. CQB will be going along too...I hope to get to shoot in a buddy's backyard while there though.

Sometimes things do come together.
