persona non grata
I seen these single stack 1911's out at matches where the grips fit real tight against the mag well. I really like the looks of that. I've got a 1911 single stack gun that came with a plastic MSH. I'd really like a metal part instead. So do ya'll have any recommendations for a magazine well/chute, a metal MSH, and then wood checkered grips that fit flush? Links, possibly? This would be for a stainless gun. Tanx! Dave Gundry
That gap really depends on how close the tolerances are of all of those parts. The overwhelming majority of folks love the Smith and Alexander magwell. It is a one piece mainspring housing and magwell. They come in stainless. For grips, I don't know - you'll have to try some to see what you like. I had the largest gap with Houge grips. I tried the Techwell and Alumagrip system and I fell in love. I think the gun balances much better for me. It also fits absolutely perfectly on my Kimber. I tried the largest model (XT), which was nice, but as many others have found, I didn't think one that big was necessary. I switched to the smallest (Carry), and it is perfect for me. Slightly larger than a S&A, but still classy. Edited September 23, 2008 by Krautwagen
Rocket35
I too am going to try out the TechWell system. Here is a quick comparison between the SVI I was using:
LPatterson
How well does the TechWell work with CMC 10 round mags since that is what I use in Limited 10? I know I had to trim them slightly to work with my S&A magwell.

TM262
Check Bownells for the S&A Magwell with Mainspring housing all in one. I have used them on several guns and they work great.
Jaxshooter
I am currently using S&A magwells on all my SS guns because I use an arched mainspring housing. While you are looking thru the Brownells catalog look at the RoCo grips that are cut square at the bottom for magwells. They are stippled not checkered and work extremely well in FL with the humidity and heat. They are also an excellent fit tight against the magwell. If your gun has ambi sagties you will have to releive the right grip for it to fit, easy to do. I have also used the Techwell with AlumiGrips and like the just as well. The grips are on page 34 middle of the page far left colum in catalog #
Chris Keen
The SV magwells are great. They go on tight, and stay put using just the magwell pin for attachment.
Steve J
Smith & Alexander magwell and Smith & Alexander grips mate up perfectly, look great, and are super functional. And their grips come in 22 different styles and woods and are custom cut for ambi-safety, etc. at your request.
