leam Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I need to learn the art of helping other purchase my stuff for sale. Not in the sense of smooth talking and taking advantage of folks, but the process of turning a potential sale into a real one that's good for both of us. Any suggestions? Leam

Leam If you're talking shooting related gear, read the classifieds here --- some ads shine, others don't. If it's other stuff --- try reading e-bay listings for a while; there's a lot to learn from some of the purveyors of gently used goods --- both what to do/say and what not to do/say......
racerba Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 ...but the process of turning a potential sale into a real one that's good for both of us. Be honest and describe as much as you can about the item.
al503 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 If you're selling a gun, an approx round count is something that I would always want to know.
1911jerry Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Add pictures of the item(s) you are selling. Nothing spells trouble like some well used and no pictures. Be flexible on your prices if someone buys more than one item from you in the same transaction - maybe knock the price down a few bucks. Ship multiple items purchased at the same time in one box for one fee. Don't increment the shipping costs beyond what is reasonable just to make a few extra bucks. Use protective packing when you ship, so the item they receive does not get damaged. Ship the item after they pay. Don't wait 3 weeks because it is inconvienient for you to go to the post office after work or during lunch time. Work with the buyer if there is a problem, don't shut him or her off. Be honest in your description. If it is used, call it used. These are my guidelines and they work pretty well. Jerry
