ManiacalPenguin
I know its a bit of a strange approach, but can anyone think of any reasons that this would be a bad idea? Pros: -Lighter than an equivalent # of standard .30 carbine rounds. -Higher MV 2000fps + from the load data I'm seeing Cons: -More expensive to load than a standard .223, probably breaks even with loading standard .30carbine -Higher chance of malfunction (mostly chambering problems I would expect) For the curious, I like strange combinations, am interested in 3gun competitions (currently doing SASS, and IPSC) and I really don't have the budget ATM for a new rifle. Bryan 45
You should get well over 2000fps, but still probably won't make minor. However, the 110g .30 at 1900 easily makes minor. I can't see any advantage. The carbine in .30 is a great little rifle, and actually pretty good for our game under 200 yards. I've used it in local matches before and it's plenty soft shooting. Just get a M2 mag catch and tested 30 round mag. A stock carbine is strange enough in our sport, if you're looking for "style points."
