Trader
No need for major pf here. I have a lot of Clays and a bunch of 180gr bullets I would like to use up. Gun is STI with Bull barrel. I cant find where I recorded what I loaded a while back. I have 4 loading manuals that offered no help. I think I loaded 4.0 gr Clays with this bullet , loaded to 1.190 oal. Can anyone sanction this combination? Thanks
gm iprod
Hodgdon manual lists the following. 180gr oal 1.125" 3.5gr clays = 850fps. If you, load longer you will have to up the powder charge very very carefully to maintain the velocity listed.
warpspeed
Trader, Clays is wonderful for minor pf like steel load. Very soft. I have used 3.0 to 3.5 grains with a 135gr for SC and it was nice and soft and flat. For a 180, start with 3.2 @ 1.125 and ckeck for pressure signs. If none, you are good to go.
