09/17/08 Airsoft Training.

Today in my training I was not staying with the shot (I did not follow through on each shot) I caught myself snapping my eyes to the next target (which is good) before I was finished with the previous shot. I had to many C hits I will be working on this. I had no mikes or D hits.(good thing) Tomorrow I will be working on a different drill.

09/20/08

I shot 240 rounds today in airsoft training. I noticed today is that I didn't have a sharp focus on 1 thing I opened myself up and observed. This was an eye opener it let things run more fluid, smooth it made my eyes snap to the next target much better I was calling the shots much easier everything just seemed to flow . I was shooting with out doubt I knew where the gun was at all times(it was just floating out there which made driving it much easier) and what it was doing and where the shot hit even if it was a D hit I knew I over swung the target but I let the shot go anyway.(didnt have patience on those D hits but I knew why I had the D hits). This has been my best practice ever. :D

Airsoft training

I shot 240 rounds today. I was not seeing very good today. I wasnt getting my eyes to snap to the exact target spot which made things a little slow.(wasnt as fluid or smooth as it should be).I still got my hits(but I did have one Mike on the first shot of the day I did call the mike I had the front sight up out of the notch and let the shot go anyway didnt have visual patience to get the front sight in the notch before I let the shot go I did learn something.)

Getting ready for an all steel USPSA (except for the classifier stage) match at my club on sat 9/28/08. I havent shot in a match month I cant wait!

I shot 360 rounds with my airsoft. Continued with my transitions. Everything was in fluid motion today I am noticing that my shot calling is getting better. The gun was floating it felt like it was shooting itself. I was a little jerky on a couple runs but it smoothed out. I did have a couple mikes which I did call and 2 D's the rest A and C's. The mikes came from me not focusing on anything problem fixed. I noticed also that I didnt have a 100% sight focus I saw the sights clearly but not tunnel vision on the front sight. I saw where the sights were on the target as well as the sights. I am finally finding out what I need to see to make the shot.(and I know what I didnt see when I didnt make the shot) :D

Day Off Tomorrow.

I shot 240rds today it felt great. The result was also great. I did notice during shooting one of the strings my mind kind of went blank I saw the sight and then I didn't see anything it was kind of strange (its like your mind just goes blank for a second like driving to work and not remembering the drive). The rest of the session went excellent another great day of training.

All steel match today 9/28/08

Stages were great there were only 4 paper targets on one stage the rest of the stages had poppers and then all static steel. The static steel had to be shot with 2 rounds each. 38 round all steel field course it was great. You either got A's or Mikes. No Mikes for me :P

The first stage went ok didnt make any mistakes but I was not aggressive enough all good hits time was A little slow shot it the first time through in 24.**secs. on the reshoot I shot it in 19.** secs much better. The other stages went very well also didnt have any mistakes and was more aggressive on the rest of the stages. Sure was different shooting 10" and 12" plates with 2 shots each. I will post the results when I get them but I did the best I could today. I did find out that I need to get a different mag release button because on the reshoot I one stage I had trouble getting to the mag release with my thumb. This will be fixed.

I got the results I did win limited and 2nd overall combined scores. Looking at the stage scores as I stated above I was not aggressive enough on the field courses.

I didn't get any video sorry I was helping run the match.

I think I found out why my mag didn't drop it was because when I change my grip to hit the mag button my middle finger on my strong hand was hitting the other side of the button while my thumb was pressing on the button. I am going to get the Dawson Mo Lo pro mag button to see if this will fix my problem.

360rds today in training. Worked on movement and entering box. Also today I really pushed on the last 120rds. I just watched to see what happens I was really aggressive and deliberate in my transitions from target to target. I did not try to make anything happen I just observed. What I noticed was what I could really get away with. I found I did have a little more tension in my arms but it did not effect the shots it felt pretty good. Everything just flowed the eyes were moving very fast (snapping the eyes to the next target) and seeing the sights come into my acceptable scoring zone and then letting the shot go as soon as the sights were in the zone. I did have a some shots that went a little early and ended up being C hits. I am noticing that my seeing is becoming much faster when I just sit back and observe rather than trying to see or focus on just one thing.

Perfect day of training.

On the last 120 rounds I had 87 A's,31 C's and 2 D's for 93% of the available points.

360 rounds today.

What I did today was a bit out of the normal for me, I am getting into a comfort zone in my training now it is time to bust out of it! So what I did today was used Control/Abandon shooting the details can be found here Control/Abandon. Now if you have read that I used this info on my drills. What I found was the first 120 rounds I cranked it up my hits were all over the place had a few mikes, D's a lot of C's. Well on the 2nd 120 rounds my hits are getting better and I am able to see better at this speed. The last 120 rounds well what do you know the hits are even better no D's or Mikes again a lot of C's. I think this is what I needed for a change so I will continue to crank it up in practice to increase my natural speed for a match. It is simply amazing what you can actually see when you crank it up. At first you may not see anything it all may be a blur. Just observe and your vision will become faster and everything will become clear. So get out there and Crank it up!

Another great day!

240 rds. of training today. Control / Abandon style. Went really well today I had 3 D's the rest A's and C's. I am being able to see a lot faster. I also did some dry reloads since I put on a Dawson Mo lo pro mag button to solve the problems I was having hitting the mag release fully. Here are some pics of the button I did today at work.

Another Great Day of Training!

Airsoft Training

10/8/08

240 rounds today. I caught myself rushing waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much. I was snapping my eyes before I completed the shot. I was not fluid and smooth i was jerking from target to target. I finally smoothed out at the end which is good. I had a total speed focus which caused all this rushing and jerking around. I found when you have a speed focus you don't see very well. Lesson learned!

I was working on the Control/Abandon stuff again today and went over the edge.

It was a good day! Like I said Lesson learned. Any time you learn something it is a good training session.

Airsoft training

240 rounds today. I got back to being smooth today did not rush and the seeing today was much better calling my shots. It is amazing when you can use your sights as feed back and know you did not hit where you should have. Everything was clicking today I was seeing very well and I was not rushing and jerking the gun around. I still think it is good to go over the edge sometimes in practice to see what will happen. 205 A's 35 C's no D's 97% of the available points!

Another productive day!

Day off tomorrow getting ready for club match sat. will post results when I get them.

Got the results today from this weekends match. It came out like I thought it would. I didnt shoot bad I just had to many mental mistakes which is what I need to work on. I need to run the stages more mentally so I dont have to think about it when I am shooting.

I did have airsoft training today and I am cutting down the target size I am training with. cut them to 3"x3" I was using 3"x6". It went very well No D's or Mikes and only 15-16 C's. I shot 240 rounds.

Here are the results. Combined. I did shoot the classifier well won that stage

Took the day off of training today. Had to load some bullets for this weekend. I have a local steel match and I am going to shoot an IDPA match. Haven't shot IDPA in years. I am going to shoot my 45 single stack in CDP. Last time I shot the classifier was in 2002. Classified expert in CDP.

I also took this time to think about this past weekends match. I managed to win a few stages. (good thing) but I need to get my consistency back I need to get better at field courses that is where the big match points are. My goal is to get the movements and stage planning down better. This is what really hurts me in matches the field course I loose most of my match points on these stages due to poor planning my hits are good it just takes me to long. I need to get in position ready to shoot and get out! I need to break the stage down better take a section at a time one step at a time. I have been shooting one section of the stage and thinking about the other sections.(not good) I need to plan the stage much better and I will be working hard on this. I need to get more match experience which I think will help. I need to reread SA's book!

Taking today off of training. After this weekend I will be taking a little break from training. I will be shooting local club match on oct 26 2008. There will be no training before this match. I will post results from this weekend from both matches when I get them.

I havent shot this in a while it was hard coming from USPSA and shooting IDPA trying not to get any penalties which I did not get any I just had a lot of questions for the SO's :D . Two different games with different rules. The stages were all good stages and I had a lot of fun! I shot CDP EX and was Division Champion. It was a great weekend of shooting. It is obvious that you do a LOT of Airsoft practice. How do you feel that transfers to live practice? I am considering buying an Airsoft Glock, but I'm not sure if it will take the place of live fire practice. Of course, if I could cut down from 350 rounds per week of ammo to 175, it would pay for itself very quickly.

You still need to live fire at least before a match. You need to get your timing back of full power loads. I went to a match with out any live fire and it felt like a canon going off. What I do for a local match is before the match starts is fire about 10 rounds into the berm. We are able to do this at our local matches we can go into the bays that are not being used for the match. Other than that I do little live fire. I should do more.
