Duane Thomas
If you are current IDPA member, what is your highest ranking in any division? In another thread the idea has been put forth that 8-percent-and-some-change of IDPA shooters are Master class. That would mean that one out of every 12 IDPA members is a Master class shooter. If I'm wrong I'll certainly be the first to admit it, but my immediate reaction is, "I am SO not buying that." Granted that the results we get in this poll might not transition over to IDPA as a whole, but I would expect that a web site like this would tend to attract the more serious shooters, either already at the higher levels or seriously on the Path. If the answer comes out in this poll that a significantly lesser percentage of IDPA members are Masters, I don't see how the percentage couldn't be even lower among the rank and file. I'll get the ball rolling here: Master.

Mick
Heavens! Thus far the answer is 100 percent Masters. With a set classification system isn't it possible for everyone to be a master? I certainly wouldn't have a problem with that! I did NOT vote. Edited April 28, 2008 by Mick

Joe D
Master: SSP and ESP Expert: CDP I have decided to shoot CDP the rest of the year in hopes of moving up. Have not shot CDP in 7 years. BTW I don't believe in moving up by a Classifier score. Lots of "Paper Masters" out there.

Jim Watson
Man, I have got to dilute the horde of hotshots. My best rating is CDP Expert, attained by winning Sharpshooter in a match. got glock
ESP=MA SSP=EX (have'nt really shot it in matches for 1-1.5 yrs or so) CDP=UN REVO=UN I also think that the way to the top is by winning matches. For what it is worth I have never shot a master class classifier in a match, been within 1 second many times, but I seem to do plenty good at the sanctioned matches. revchuck
I'll further dilute (delude?) it - EX in SSR, SS in everything else. I'll probably kick myself up to EX in SSP during my next classifier...whenever that is... Loves2Shoot
Daune, I think the skill level of shooters that visit this forum is higher than at the average IDPA match, so your numbers will skew higher.

MichiganShootist
Duane Love2shot has got it right- - - - will be FAR more Master and EXP shooters on this forum than there is in the IDPA membership (or USPSA as well).

Maybe - that's why a current, valid IDPA number and classification clears up so much of the ambiguity in responses. Let's compare the number of those we recieve with the poll numbers and see what portion of the populations overlap. I'm not a huge fan of anonymous opinions - they are merely orphaned words.
