BillD
For my third grade boy, I built a Ruger 22/45 with a TS upper. The polymer lower and aluminum upper makes it uber light. A gunsmith friend custom fit a slide racker to the bolt to make it easier to manipulate. Reliable, light and pretty thin. There are smaller .22's but they haven't shown the reliability I desired. Hope that helps. How much do you have in that gun? I'm buying my grandson a .22 pistol for his 7th birthday. I want a good one but I don't want to spend a grand on his birthday gift. A Buckmark with a TacSol barrel, C-More dot and mount is probably way over a grand. I could buy a M41 Smith for that money. Of course, it would be too heavy for him. ShootsinRain
I think total it is 600-650 but I'm not running a red dot. I want him to learn good trigger control with a pistol. He does fine with a fiber optic iron sight.
