LPatterson
Well the wind started blowing so hard that I couldn't shoot straight, not very good anyway, so I decided to pick up some of the 40 brass that I had seen walking back and forth shooting the 22's. By and large and I am large, I am a 45 shooter who shoots Production occasionally and now trying a revo. The more 40 brass that I picked up, the more 40 brass that I saw. On a trip back to the truck I had something to dump in the trash barrel, then I discovered the reason for all the 40 brass, dozens of empty boxes of Winchester Ranger LE 185gr HP ammo. The cops had used the bullseye range for practice instead of their own. There was enough brass laying around that I put knee pads on so I could knee walk between positions. Had lots of knee walking practice with $5.00 40 oz JD overseas. Picked up almost 2 coffee cans full to go with the 1000 or so at home. I may gain some 40 caliber friends when matches start up again. The only 40 I shoot is when I borrow a friends 35 for GSSF.
SA Friday
I shoot at an indoor range occasionally. 75% of the time, I pay $10 for a lane and leave with $50 worth of brass from the floor, all once shot. Gotta love it.

Gotta love it. Ditto. Most of the brass is Winchester or Mag-Tech (CBC), both of which I like. I try not to be too greedy...I just take whatever cailber I'm shooting that night. I inadvertently leave some forward of the line due to bad bounces off the partition, so I don't feel too bad about it.

Gotta love it. This is where 90% of my brass comes from these days. I may shoot off a 100 or so on my lunch break at an indoor range, but manage to leave with 5-600 pieces of 1X fired WWB in 9MM. It justifies the $14/month range fee for me.
JimmyZip
Sundays SC match at P.S.G.C. and the squad before us wasn't picking up it's brass. Generally we clean up our brass upon completion of each stage and divide it amongst ourselves. Only three out of our seven was a reloader. Left with five hundred more than I came with, and we still left piles as there was just too much as most of us are heavy with brass 'cause the cops use our range and NEVER pick it up! Needless to say my tumbler has been busy and I'm developing a brass collection.
Mark K
Once I started reloading, this picking up brass becomes an addiction. I sweep up the brass around me when I shoot at the indoor range, and pick up what is left on the range after matches. I end up giving 45s to friends that shoot it, they give me 40s that they get, and do other trades for 40s with shooters that need 9s. It is hell to walk past shiny brass just laying on the ground/floor. You also get a pretty good measuring eye from standing distance to tell the difference between 9mm and 380auto, and the various XXSig brass.
