s1nn3d
noob here, kindly advice if wolff works fine with sti 140mm mag. We barely see any grams and ismi magsprings here in the PI and if you're lucky enough to find one, the price is 150% higher . Thanks Edited February 12, 2008 by s1nn3d

bkeeler
Thanks BK! good to hear that, now how is this magspring compared to ISMI? Anymore input fellas? This is from wolfs website if that helps ..."While Chrome silicone is and excellent material, it is a softer material and does not offer the tensile strength of our proprietary HTCS spring material - the material most of our springs are produced from." benny hill
The main difference is wolff is wound after heat treating & ISMI before.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Valve springs for cars are chrome silicon. We know how many cycles they go per minute. Use the ISMI springs. Thanks, Eric
TeamGE
The main difference is wolff is wound after heat treating & ISMI before. I would have to disagree with that statement, Benny. Wolff does not wind a spring after heat treating the wire.
benny hill
I was shown a wolff spring under a micro scope & it had tiny stress cracks around each bend that I could not see with my eye. Looking at the ismi ones showed none. I am talking mag springs.
Dave Gundry
AFAIK, not treating ANY spring after winding will result in very rapid failure. Benny, were the cracks axial or along the circumference of the wire? Maybe they're not stretched until after treating...
HSMITH
Wolf springs don't last nearly as long as ISMI. They work, but they don't last as long.

Looking at the ismi ones showed none. I am talking mag springs. I am not going to arguing what you saw Benny, (I was not there). I am only stating what I know on how springs are made, whether it is a mag spring or any other style of spring. For those that want to, we can argue all day about how long one brand of spring will last compared to another. I for one will pick and use a Wolff spring, mag or what ever, over an ISMI spring, every time. I have my proof, you have yours. What counts is what works for your expected function and reliability. ( bevan's) i can tell you this ,a new spring ,any brand spring needs to take a set( load it - 4 or 5 short to help keep the feed lips from spreading ) overnight, before use and it really helps...my 2cents
