ruready
Is anyone using a LWD guiderod? It looks like the guiderod can be used either captured or uncaptured. Which one is most commonly used? I tried it uncaptured and it was a pain to put it in. Also, I just started experimenting with spring weights and currently have the ISMI 13# on it. Pulling the trigger does not make it come out of battery. But if I do the spring test where the muzzle is pointed up and let the slide go home slowly, it won't go full into battery IF I have a dummy round. It does however go into battery without the dummy round though. Is this a concern? Do you guys test the spring with or without the dummy round? Last one, anyone tried using a Wolf spring with an LWD rod?
SA Friday
The LDW rods can be used captured or noncaptured. Yes it's more difficult to compress the spring when noncaptured, but it gets easier the more times you do it. The rods are really made to be used with an ISMI spring, but the wolf springs are larger in the center and should work. You do the test without a snapcap or dummy round in the chamber. proraptor
I run the LWD steel guiderod (captured) with the ISMI 13 lb spring and have had no problems so far with the combination. Im sure all guns are different so your gun might like a 15lb spring more.

the duck of death
Here's a tip, if you're shooting a long slide G34 etc. I make a guide rod out of a full length 1911 rod. It's reduced to fit ISMI springs and it's long enough for easy instillation.
