I'm Open shooter going back to the early 90s....I still have my very first Open gun and it's in the pic. It had iron sights on it when I bought it and about six or eight months later everyone had switched over to scopes. It still runs and shoots great, but man, it's heavy in comparison with the new guns. The original slide cracked after about 85,000 rounds and the replacement never got blued. Do I get bonus points if I add that I'm just starting to talk to Derrick at Millenium about a new Open gun???? I'm thinking something wild since my Bedell is pretty conventional. I won my class at the 2007 Area-2 match...okay, it was sorta sandbagging as the USPSA update hadn't run yet and I knew I was easily in the next class, but that's just good luck/timing....that provided the STI frame for the new Open gun so I think it was a worthy cause!

You know I used to think my open gun was loud, then I shot with Shawn(racerx) a couple times. That things is rediculous.

Yeah but it's fun to watch your face get deformed by the blast, Bob! And I always thought you handed off the timer when I was shooting because you wanted to watch my incredible shooting style :P

Ok This is the SOB training drill of the week. You will need a Mirror = Practice saying "What was your time on that stage" the Mirror is get just a hint of smirk, just at the corner of your mouth.

Next practice drooping a phrases like What your time for a reloads = " Yea My reload is at 1.2 if I have to do it flat foot."

... <_<

You don't seem to be alone!

Raise your hand if you wear and STI shirt !!! :surprise:

At the very least I can say it really was honest...hadn't shot Open in a long time before that.

My STI shirts are being retired in 2008...love the contingency program but managed to con my way into a better deal

What kind of dinosaur is that in the picture, (Open gun, BETA Ver. 1.0)

Very cool, wish Iwas there! ;)

LOL...actually I think it was 3.0 since it was a .38 Super and had a scope! Man that thing was so slick looking when I first got it (think it was 1991)...nice blue, full profile comp and Bo-Mars! You can't see the crack in the dust cover because it's covered up with the scope mount and you can't see the crack in the left side of the comp in the pic...talk about a battle axe!

Hey I had one just like that, but it was crome and in the brand new 40cal I shot it over two years with Iron sites before I put one of them new fangel C-Mores on it. <_< That was when it was only SS or para or caspian or a Hipower, the only way to get a CZ was from Canida as we had the Solviet Block /embargo going on. The Club I shot with only reguired one hit on paper if you placed it in the center. That how I learned to shoot slow

I haven't won anything with my Open gun, first loser (second) B at a sectional a couple months after I finished building it, and a 5th or 6th A (middle of the pack) at an Area match in a steady downpour. Only two big matches I have shot with it. I have won a few club matches, and according to some I truly am an SOB. I wouldn't mind having an official SOB descriptor.

Major 9 STI, in the white.

BTW...

Being this is the STI/SVI SOB Club, I take it you guys are ostracizing the the polymer guys too!!!

IF this is the case, I would like to be a non-shooting honorary member, I could be in charge of after-match activities, for the minority non-gay guys of course.

I don't have to prove anything as I have won just a few matches. B)

I do like to shoot my loud Open gun FAST. So fast that the splits blend together in one smashing, rockin beat, rattling every SS shooter within 3 bays and reducing them to shaking former pieces of themselves. I then take their women home.
