TannerB
Is there a rule in USPSA regarding how for forward a holster can be mounted on your belt?
HoMiE
Only for Productions and Single Stack divisions. See the appendix E3 in the rule book, basically can't go forward of your hip bone.

TannerB
I guess mag location doesn't matter either for limited?
HoMiE
Nope, holster and mag pouches anywhere on the belt. Well, as long as they don't stick out more than 2" from the inside of the belt. Edited January 23, 2008 by HoMiE
boz1911
No restrictions on mounting. Don't have the rulebook in front of me but I believe there is a restriction(if your holster is adjustable) as to how far the muzzle can be pointed away from your body. HoMiE
...that too 5.2.7.2 A holster with the heel of the butt of the handgun below the top of the belt, except as specified in Appendix D, or otherwise indicated in Rule 5.2.8. 5.2.7.3 A holster with the muzzle of the handgun pointing further than 3 feet from the competitor’s feet while standing relaxed,
BBoyle
There is no advantage to having the holster almost in front of you and all it will do is slow you down due to extra motion to get to it and then straighten it out. I know it looks cool but you will eventually realize it for yourself. The best place to place the holster is where the grip of the gun will be when you put your hands naturally at sides and then try to bring your hand up to your chin really fast. When you get it there bring the holster slightly back another 1/4-1/2 inch so your hand will ride the holster on the upstroke helping with more consistant draws. That will be the fastest place for anybody (as long as there isn't as medical problem interfering with that motion). It will probably be right around the front of your hip bone or just behind it.
