Deep Purple.  I know...Most folks relate Deep Purple with Smoke On The Water. Sad, but true. Bum-bum-bum---bum-ba-bah-bum...

Enough!

 

But they had more that was truly was noteworthy. And this is it. 

Lazy may be my all-time favorite cut they did, and one of my all-time favorite guitar runs by any group. Blackmore was a classically-trained guitarist, and showed his virtuosity on this recording. 

 

Jon Lord starts out playing keyboards (organ, with what sounds like a Hammond B3 and a Leslie), and morphs into Blackmores anything-but-Lazy guitar work.

 

Worth a listen if you appreciate 6-string virtuosity.
