Reloading Benches

New table thanks to dad! All the brass I have collected from the local range in the past year. Check out my blog to see what my set-up used to look like, haha!

Looks great, but I think cigars belong in a cedar lined, humidity controlled cooler...unless the urge to smoke while reloading is too great... :surprise:

This is the Ultimate Reloading Bench. Lots of space for work. The bench is very heavy, stable and bolted to the ground and wall. The top of the table is two by fours side by side with a 3/4 inch piece of sanded plywood (no splinters). The top of the table is 8 feet long and 4 feet deep so tons of room to add more presses. Also for added comfort I installed a 15,000 BTU portable air conditioning unit in this room (2 car garage).

JayJayJay, very nice bench!! And very well laid out.

Sorry for the delay on the next in the series. I've been having a hard time getting a decent photo of it because I can't back up enough to get it all in a photo. So I took a bunch of them and tried to stitch them together in Photoshop, but unfortunately, it didn't turn out very well. I'll have to do it again with a tripod. But here's a quick stitch of the bench top. I'll get more up soon.

Enjoy.

My concept. I think the NRMA guys had it right those many years ago. Not too big to be sprawling but big enough for everything to have a place.

Loaded my first 20 rounds of .45 the other night starting to work up a load. It was comfortable, clean and enjoyable. Hopefully when I fire them off Friday all goes well with feed/function etc.

Later I plan on loading 30-06 but that will be some time in the future.

pmclaine-

Very nice and well thought out setup. I like your modular mount. How is it working for you? Sturdy enough?

So far so good. The tracks are epoxied and through bolted in the work top. The aluminum machine base is 5/8" 6061 and I used 6 T bolts to secure it to the track. The machine is through bolted in the aluminum with 1/4-20 hardware. There is actually less felt force on the handle than I had expected so I think it will hold up well. I did lube my .45 cases slightly with One Shot so that may have helped. The big test will be when I start sizing the 30-06. The mass of the bench is such that without being mounted to the wall it is rock steady.

I guess I could use more space but for the most part I just stand in one spot anyway so I put everything in arms reach. Powder, bullets, primers and brass all have shelf space somewhere else.

With out the radio, it would be boring.
