Here's a pic of a walnut workbench I scored at HomeDepot for $50. This thing is heavy, weighs about 150lbs. The tabletop is 2" of solid wood. I didn't want the tabletop to get all dinged up, so I bought some plexiglass from Lowes and had it cut to fit on the tabletop. Here's a closeup: I'm thinking of installing some L-brackets to secure it to the tabletop and keep it from sliding out of place. It's not really plexiglass, it's more of an acrylic plastic material. It's really flexible, just like a deskpad you see people use on their office desks. Dimensions 36 inches tall 60 inches wide 30 inched deep Bottom shelf needs to be installed as well. Turns out the "weekend" bench plans I got, take longer than a weekend to build.
