I'd much rather have 8-10 good stages than 12-15 that have 2 or 3 classifiers or just standards to get the stage/round count up.

Confirmed with Lee Leonard 9/3: The match will be held as scheduled on October 12-14th. There will be 10 stages and the match will require 250-300 rounds to complete.

Everyone, I do apologize for the confusion that my earlier posts on this thread have caused. I greatly appreciate the input that I've received from members of this board regarded the posted the match information and the help they've given me in clarifying some of the information that I've muddled. So here's an update:

(updated 9/3)

Three things:

1. Match Information

2. Staff Information

3. Hotel Information

USPSA Juniors shoot FREE when accompanied by a paying adult competitor!

The Match will be run on a one day format. In other words, each shooter will complete the match in one day.

The match will consist of 10 stages and require 250 to 300 rounds to complete.

2. Staff Information

Staff Registration:

USPSA certified ROs get a free registration for The Championship. Non-certified ROs register for The Championship for half price ($40). The staff shoot will be held on Friday afternoon. We ask all certified ROs, non-certified ROs and other match staff to shoot the match on the afternoon/evening of Friday the 12th if possible.

Any staff member (non-certified RO or cook, target paster, steel setter, etc.) who commits to working all three days of the match can register for the Championship for $20.00; i.e if you’re a non-certified RO and you commit to work all three days, your registration fee for the Championship is only $20.00. Any staff that can’t shoot on Friday or who are working all three days will be run through the stages on Saturday on Sunday, 2-3 stages at a time, as work schedules permit and will be RO’d by Lee Leonard, our Event Coordinator. You may only shoot this match once.

Staff Accommodations:

Certified ROs get a free (shared) hotel room for Friday and/or Saturday night. All volunteer staff (including target pasters, steel setters, and stats runners, etc.) eat for free.

There will be an RO prize table that is separate from Championship prize table. Certified ROs and non-certified ROs will each receive one ticket for a blind raffle for each day that they work, up to three.

As of 9/3 we still have a few staff positions that need to be filled. If you want to volunteer and help us make this the best match possible, please send email to:

I sent my app in a few weeks ago. Will someone email to confirm that it was received?

Pierce195. please pm me your complete name, zip code and email addy and I'll get a confirmation of receipt of your registration and email you. I am going to send a note to Lee tonight to volunteer to email out confirmations to folks who have already registered.

Steel - There will be no online squadding (next year there will, I promise) this year. I will find out for certain if the match diagrams/booklet will be available online before the match.

All RO slots are now filled. Thanks!

Pierce195 - you should have an email confirming receipt of your registration and funds. Match Director Harry Sublett has promised to send an email confirming receipt of registrations this weekend.

Steel1212 - I am hoping to have the match booklet online by Sept 14th. I haven't seen it yet, but I know that it's in the final stages of production. I'll do everything I can to get it online asap.

And regarding squading: we have no means of providing "online" squading on a website at this time. However, you may pm me a list of names and USPSA nums and I personally make sure that the squad lists are given directly to the Match Director.

Thanks, Dom

Just received this email:

Dear Staff: Due to unforeseen circumstances the KY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 for OCT 12, 13, 14 has been cancelled. All checks that have been sent in with applications will be returned to all competitors. If you have any questions, please e-mail me or Lee Leonard. I do apologize for any inconvenience this has caused especially all of those willing to devote their time, efforts, and staff that scheduled their vacations just to come work the match. ....

Sincerely, Christa Toby Assistant Match Director, KY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

I don't understand that at all. They have a lot of the stages built up and supposedly the workers to work it?

Lee Leonard's announcement:

unforeseen events have made it impossible for me to put on the quality match that you shooters expect, therefore we are calling the match off,,,,,,,,sorry for any inconvenience,,,,,all checks will be returned.......Lee Leonard

C, I share your frustration and disappointment. A lot of people have worked hard in preparation for this match. The committed staff was more than adequate to cover ten stages. I chose to not comment on the reasons for the cancellation. However, I will say that it has been great working with Lee Leonard and Christa Toby and the other core workers at Silver Creek and Hidden Hills and look forward to helping them organize events in the future.

I'm very new to USPSA and have never participated in a level two match. My role in organizing this even has been strictly to help out with the "internet" side of it and run stats.

Some of you have asked me about refunds. If anyone has questions about refunds of registration fees paid they can contact me and I will gladly do what I can to expedite your refund. However, I fully expect that you will receive your refunds quickly and that no checks received have even been cashed.

Thanks, Dominic Bosco

I do understand everyone's frustrations, I was the Assistant MD for the match and looked forward to it myself. It came down to looking at the number of entries already in 30 days prior to the match going on, and I did not see how we could even break even on the match. I believe this would have been our 7th in a row KY STATE match. Also, with at least 3 other large matches going on I believe the shooters are picking matches closer to home instead of the travel time due to all expenses going up (hotel, food, gas). We had to make a decision and I do apologize for any incovenience this has caused the competitors and staff that were planning on attending the match.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Lee Leonard - Event Coordinator @ leedvc@sbcglobal.net
