Weimer01
Here's my newbie first load data: Zero 185 grn JHP Winchester large pistol primers Winchester brass (once fired) 6.4 grn Universal (100 rnds) & 6.6 grn Universal (100 rnds) books mid point was 6.5 OAL 1.21 Sig GSR Revo 5" 1911 stainless Shooting L10 Trying to reach major PF I think the load is a bit hot but I can't prove it (chrono was destroyed before I was able to, not me someone else). I'm thinking of going with Clays but I'm having a hard time finding data for the 185 grn & Clays load. Originally, I was thinking that the 185 grn bullets would keep a flatter path out to +40 yards but I keep seeing 230 grn as a popular weight. Any help / suggestions are appreciated Weim Edited May 24, 2007 by Weimer01
Dan Sierpina
With a .45 go with the 230 FMJ round nose. 4.0 or 4.1 of regular Clays will give you an accurate and soft shooting load. When they started Open and Limited divisions back in the early 90's and still had the old power factor 4.4 of Clays under the 230 FMJ was the standard load of shooters such as Rob Leatham and Jerry Barnhart.
