Irate
I have a compaq presario S5000V and I recently moved down to college. When I got down here, I set up my computer and I pressed the power button. It started, as in the power came on and it spun both empty hard drives then just sat. It did not attempt to start and the monitor never came up with any input. I had all the inputs in as in the mouse, monitor and keyboard. What could my problem be, any help would be much appreciated. Merlin Orr
How about the lights on the front of the box? I have had my screen power source come loose at the screen and the computer actually be on but it appeared not to be working.....
Irate
Well, what turned out was....I'm not really sure what was wrong, but when I disconnected my ram and plugged my monitor into my motherboard instead of my graphics card, it booted up fine. I shut it down, put the ram back in and the monitor into the graphics card again and all was well. I don't know what was wrong but at least it works, thanks for the suggestion. Irate (but not really since my computer works now)
Flatland Shooter
Sounds like the graphics card may have jarred a little loose on the trip to college. If it happens again consider pulling the card out and re-seating it. It may be just a little bit crooked. Bill
SiG Lady
That's what I was thinking, too. Sometimes even the slightest relocation effort can knock things loose. As snug a fit as RAM usually is, it too can actually come unseated at times, I've been told.
