Best Place To Buy Bullets

I HATE the high price of bullets, but...

I can shop around and save maybe $5-7 per thousand. In the big picture, when you figure that into the price per shot, it is a waste of my time to bother shopping the prices etc.

I either shoot Montana Gold or Zero JHP's.

To put it further in perspective:

I drove 2 1/1 hours each way to a match on Saturday. The gas cost me about $60. What is $6 per thousand in an order of bullets?

JMO, YMV

I hear what your saying about cost, and how it is relative to other things.

But if I don't do what I can to keep things in check, my wife will freak when she sees the check.

I figured it out, and last year I fired 5000 rounds of .45 Raniers. Are they the cheapest? No, not when I could be shooting lead.

I just worry about handling any more lead rounds than I have to, the smoke factor, and the clean up. But if I can save $10-20 a thousand by just looking prowling the internet that means I got a free 1000 for the trouble.

Plus I just like to help others out, and doesn't it make you wonder why there is such a wide variety in prices, and shipping charges.

PS

REV you were right. I blended the two precisions together. Precision bullets is $76.25 for Moly coated.

This is still bad when I have been paying $64 for plated.

In my experience the Masterblasters don't smoke or lead much with the Univ. Clays load I am using. I also learned some tips to increase the performace with their bullets my Tom Stidham himself.

1. Use Ramshot Competition powder.

2. Allow the bullets to cure more with a couple of weeks under a lamp. He mentioned that once completely cured they are very close to performing like a jacketed bullet. With very virtually no smoke and/or leading.

3. He is working on re-tooling his bullet dies for a straight wall bullet without the grease ring to further improve the performace of their bullets.

Like I said before- superior quality and service! B)

I just laoded 25 rounds of 45 ACP with Precision 230 gr round nose bullets that a friend gave me to try. I shot them in an SV that I use for heavy metal. Excellent accuracy, no smoke loaded with 4.0 gr Clays.

I just ordered 500 of the 185gr 40 caliber to try in my Limited guns. If they work like the 45s I am going to switch from 180gr Zero's.

I re-investigated the pricing as of today for 1000 - 230 gr. Here is the real tale of the tape:

__Company______Price + Shipping = Total

Precsion...............74.25+free =74.25 if you buy 2,000(No lube ring and I preffer the coating)

1. Master Blaster...74.95 + Free = 74.95

2. Cabelas............71.98 + 8.75 = 80.73

3. Precision Delta..91.50 + Free = 91.50

4. Midway USA......74.99 + 16.68 = 91.67

5. Hi-Tech Amm....82.00 + 11.14 = 93.14

6. Graf & Sons......93.51 + 3.95 = 97.46

Even with free shipping Precision delta is pretty pricey.

.

Precisionbullets

for 65.56/k I plan to buy there 2250 case off 200 gr swc

Thanks for the updated price list. I am always searching for better prices on bullets and your list helps.

You should add the Zero's from Angus and the Bear Creeks just for comparison with the others listed.

You are gonna keep the prices/list updated at least every 2 weeks ... right? :)

Zack,

We are trying whenever anyone sees a change.

I know that Angus' site is http://www.ghostholser.com

but I haven't heard of Bear Creek. Do you have a link?

I have been updating some of the fast moving prices and found a few new entries.

Company......... Type..........Price........ Shipping.... Total...... Special..... Price......... 1K Avg.......... Website

By the way, does anybody know how to paste an Excel table into one of these posts? When I copy/paste it messes up all of the columns. Then I have to put in all of the periods by hand.

I received a response to my order for Precision 230gr RN - 3 week backorder.

Mine have been on order for about 1 1/2 weeks now. Got a response from Dave today stating that their refinery had a kettle blow out and they ran out of alloy. Should be back in full production in 2 weeks.

I just got an email saying 4 week backorder!

Bummer, but at least he's good enough of a businessman that he keeps his customers informed.

I completely agree and will be contacting them for my next order. Right now though Im going to have to go elsewhere, I cant wait any longer.

I knew there was a reason to order another 2K Precision & Precision Delta's to go with the 4K I haven't started loading yet. Now if I could just find some Federal 150's, 500 was all the Missoula Sportsmans Warehouse had left in stock.

Dave is a stand up business man if he says 3 weeks expect your bullets to be on time. I hate it when companies keep strining me a long. I ordered today and got the same response.

Problems with the foundry where he gets the lead, coupled with a large sale that depleted his inventory are the reasons behind this delay. As copper prices keep going up I would expect him to do more business. Some waiting may become nessicary until it is a solid move to upgrade things. AS with any business which has great product at competitive prices demand will outgrow supply at times.
