I'm fairly new to shooting. I have shot a couple IDPA matches. I officially joined IDPA this year and I will be shooting more often. I shoot a Glock 19 from a IWB Comp TAC. I have a Hogue grip installed as well as a set of trijicon night sights. It's my daily carry weapon.

I have shot one steel match. There were about 15 people there and to my surprise, I ended up winning it. It was an informal match that people could use as a warm up to the weekends IDPA match. I really enjoy this sport and want to do well. I'm not really sure what basic drill I should be doing though. I dry fire. I practice draws. I even tried the treadmill thing (that was fun). I just make up stuff and have a timer on my computer that loops. Enough chit-chat....on to the videos.

I appreciate any criticisms that you have to offer. I am here to learn.

Welcome Matt. Being that I have a pocket full of pennies and have been lurking around here long enough, I will give you 2 of them. :) First get a book or video that can help you make a practice plan. Check out Brian's store here and you will find everything you need. Read this forum, even stuff that is years old still has realevance. Remember to have fun, we have all shot the no-shoot a second time while trying to make up the first no-shoot. :P

Welcome to a great forum, with what I have found to be lots of very helpful people.

For drills and practice Steve Anderson , Saul Kirsh, and Sam Conways books have helped me a lot. It was fun to watch your video. 2 suggestions, Reload up in front of you face not your belt. It saves time and you can move to the next target much faster because you see it sooner. At your next IDPA match see what the top people are using for concealment. A shirt works ok but it is very slow to draw and reload from under. Most will be using some type of vest.

Enjoy the sport!!!
