Scooter
I think he's refering to the Weigand and Dell thing that popped up a few years ago. It's all explained here: http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/dell.htm
sandman_sy
A lot of people had votings for Dell. So i decided on Dell. Inspiron 1505, the high end model. with the Core 2 Duo, 2 Gig Ram and stuff.... any comments on this decision? 2nd and 3rd choice would be HP and Sony. I like the price and the look. raz-0
Yeah, they do, but Dell sure doesn't make the Alienware machines ;-) Alienware doesn't make the alienware laptops either. They used to be the same thing as the sager laptops which you could get for almost half the alienware asking price form powernotebooks.com Both the sager and the alienware were rebaged clevo's anyway. Sageris probably the best bang for the buck. http://www.powernotebooks.com/product.php?itemId=1415 powernotebooks has a lifetime 10.0 reseller rating ( http://resellerratings.com ), which is good. The sager notebooks aren't exactly lightweights, but they seem to wear reasonably well. Alienware AFAIK has always been rebadgind compal or clevos, dunno which the current gen it, but powernotebook offers both sagers = clevo powerpro or crown = compal. George
I still say the Sony Vaio will be a better choice than a Dell for a higher end machine choice. Want a standard machine, get the Dell. Want something more, look further is my feeling. The Apple MacBook Pro when cleaved in two with Apples Bootcamp utility which allows an XP boot partition is one of the fastest PC's I have ever run when booted to XP Pro, but I HAVE NOT tested games, only run some basic benchmark tests and tested some editing apps like Adobe PS and Premiere and presentation and productivity software like MS PowerPoint, Word & Excel. Vlad
I think the 1505 is a fine machine based on my experience with the one I got for my wife. I think the screen is a bit huge for my taste, but if you game a lot it makes sense.
Jon Merricks
I use a Vaio and play a few games on it. It's easy to upgrade if it does not handle your games. I have had little problems with mine.
