21 shooter
I am getting ready to load some of these. They do not have a crimp groove, so I will be using a taper crimp. I am looking for a 125-130 power factor load. What favorite loads are some of you folks using? I may try another kind of powder if it is exceptionally great, but these are what I have on hand. Also, an OAL if you have it. I was going to try loading some of these today, but someone borrowed my taper crimp die, so I will be heading back to the store for another one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
revchuck
4.5 grains of 231 with an OAL will get you well over a 125 PF from a 4" barrel. I've needed 4.1 grains of TG to do the same thing, but others use less, so it might be that the gun I worked up that load had a slow barrel. IIRC, 4.7 grains of WSF also did the trick. The 231 load is standard pressure, the other two are +P. Hodgdon's 2007 Annual Manual is out, and has data for all of these powders with lead bullets in .38 Special. 21 shooter
Thanks revchuck, I will try those loads in my 686 and see how they do. I will also check that website.
