PaulW
Does anyone know if I need 1" or 30mm scope rings for this scope?

PaulW
Thanks.....now I bought an Armalite aluminum scope mount, all one piece, but it seems to sit a little low. Do you guys have any suggestions as to what mount to use and how high?

uscbigdawg
Paul, For mounts, I ran with just taller rings for a long time and it worked great. When I get around to picking up an Accu-point, I'll be going with the Larue SPR-1.5 (it's called LTR-139 now I think), or the SPR-E (Extended Eye Relief). Either one of those will work well. PaulW
I like those and looked at them but they are like a Bazillion dollars, holding a $150 scope did not seem to justify the expense. I was going to just use an aluminum one if they make one a little higher than the one I have.
.40AET
Hey Paul- I used a scout rail with a standard set of rings. It put any scope out far enough and at the right height. Of course it's on the shelf and I'm using the Armalite that you have. It seems high enough. You could try a small riser and see if it puts it where you want it. AH6IP
The Armalite mount is designed to put the scope on the same plane as the iron sights. ProMag makes a great aluminum and in-expensive forward rake mount that works great. Midway sells them.
PaulW
I thought about the riser, but then it just seemed to be one more thing to add. Funny you say that about the Pro-Mag mount, I was just looking at that one. So I guess the Armalite 1" mount is correct for the scope, but the mounting brackets won't touch the mount body when tightened right? Thats what had me a tad confused. Going to the gunshow, see what I can find. Thanks guys.

mike.45
Jerry, Happy new year amigo ! Sorry mate, being a bit slow today - do you get one or two rings when you buy that forward mount - I assume you need two for the scope ??
smokshwn
Paul, I know some may find them a little cheesy but Leupold sells a set of aluminum see through mounts that to put the scope at a very usable height on an ar. I got mine at Wal Mart for about $16. On this page http://www.leupold.com/products/mounts.htm they are the first pair of mounts on the left. I have found them to be repeatable and they have survived just fine for two years. Good luck, Craig
open17
Warne ultra hi QD rings work fine. Warne Pn is 207LM. Good solid all steel ring. A little heavy but not bad. Brownell's PN is 947-000-005 Whan I built my "lighter gun" (Cav arms lower, turned down M4 style barrel) I wanted something lighter in a ring. Put on a set of aluminum Weaver ultra-high rings. So far so good. Think I saw them in the latest CDNN flyer for $12 or so per set. Bill

AH6IP
Mike- The ProMag is a one ring mount. But the Weaver is very light and mounts tight and secure. ProMag mount Happy New Year back at ya!
ExtremeShot
Sorry to resurect an old thread...but I'm wondering if anyone has used "see-through" rings on their scope so they can keep the iron sights on top of the upper? ...I had a set of see-through rings on my muzzleloader and they would allow me to see the iron sights up close. The worked pretty good. Thanks, Darren
gotm4
I used a 1" Armalite mount on my wifes 3gun rifle.

StealthyBlagga
In order to allow you to use the standard iron sights, the see-through rings would have to be so tall that you would have no cheek weld at all... a bad compromise IMHO. In any case, the whole point of going to a 1-3x scope is so that the one scope will work for all shots. The picture below shows my midlength rifle with a PRI rail and 1" rings tall enough to put the front sight base in the bottom 1/3 of the scope window, so as not to be distracting. ExtremeShot
Yep, I agree. I figure I'll try the Weaver by itself at first. If I don't like it, I'll go to iron sights on the side and a higher power scope. Of course, I'll have to get the VTac tube before I can do that. Here's what I ended up doing: In order to allow you to use the standard iron sights, the see-through rings would have to be so tall that you would have no cheek weld at all... a bad compromise IMHO.
