Bianchi Cup In The Northeast.

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know where mI can shoot the Bianchi cup in the Northeast, I don't mind drive 4hrs or so.

Thnaks

Welcome to my world. I live in upstate NY and the only club that I can find that shoots any

Action pistol is the Hornell Sportsman Club. They tried a match last year and it was

very poorly attended. Some great folks from VA and elsewhere made the journey but

a disappointing turnout in the end.

They will shoot portions of the match on weekends prior to the cup for practice. Maybe once

or twice a year the will put on an entire match.

If you find anyone shooting the match complete, please let me know.

Bob

1)Chambersburg, PA

2)Possibly Trenton Fish & Game in Holland Patent (Near UTICA) NY. They have not had matches in years, but I "heard" they may start up again.

I shoot up AP there at Trenton in a summer league (started back up a couple of years ago, I believe, after an extended hiatus), but we haven't done any official matches yet - although a few of us have toyed around with the idea of organizing one...maybe even a Regional if enough people would be interested.

A subset of the same people there (like myself) are also doing an indoor winter league at the Oneida Rifle Club (in Oneida, NY, oddly enough, and not too far from Utica either) and there is a good possibility that we'll organize an official indoor match sometime this year. Well, we want to try to organize one at least!

We've been out to the Hornell matches mentioned above too, which are always a good time. Gary V always does something interesting to go with it too, like a "fields of steel" type side event. So I recommend watching for his tournaments and heading out there!

Chuck,

Have I met you?

Regardless, Trenton Fish & Game had some of the best NRA AP Regionals I ever attended back in the 1990's. The range was great (other than facing east) with a 4 target/motor mover, fixed barricades and two plate racks. I think it was Bill Judycki, then Al Sarnacki then Tom Kwasnieski who ran those. Trenton often had an NRA Referee and was a well run match, especially when Tom Kwasnieski did it. I think Tom ran that indoor league for years in Onieda, NY but now is taking a break. I have never been to Gary V's range, but he always came to Trenton. I made it to Trenton because my wife was born and raised in Rome, NY nearby.

We tentatively have one scheduled for April 29, 2007. We usually do one a year, but our attendance is very low, just a handful of shooters. Doug & Bruce usually shoot this match as a warm up for the Cup. The match will be listed on our calendar as soon as I have time to update next years schedule. Check the website calendar before driving the distance, as this match sometimes gets canceled.

Why yes you have met me, Martin (a couple of times now, actually). I'm the Chuck that pals around w/ the Ken who shot at Bianchi who went out there (carpooled) with Tom K. You know, we're those 2 "hairbags" you keep seeing popping up occasionally and collectively we are the "we" that I kept referring to above. :D

We've heard nothing but good things from everyone who used to come up to Trenton back in the day, which was one of the reasons why we started musing about trying to organize one. Ken, as you probably know, is very enthusiastic about this sport and will be the driving force behind trying to get it organized - I'm merely his "sidekick".

And you're correct, Tom K is taking a break this year, so Ken and I are running the Oneida league this year ourselves (along with another guy who I don't think you know who was very sad to hear that Tom wouldn't be running it this year and prompted Ken and I to step up to the challenge). And Gary V promised to bring a crew out to our indoor tournament if we manage to make it happen!

Chuck,

I thought so, but the "Central NY" through me off. I was thinking more "up State" I guess.

I know you are doing well with your stock/production gun and Ken Macari is doing very well too. Just gotta "keepthathairoutayoureyes!" :o But I know a nice German lady who can fix that....ask Ken! ;)

Take care,

Martin

Maybe a haircut would be a better solution, although the braid wasn't too bad (just not the look I was going for at the BC  )

Back to the main topic (I don't want Martin to get jealous with all this talk about hair)...

Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club has posted their schedule of events for the coming year, including several (pending) approved NRA matches. It's a great range and great group of people to shoot with. I'll look for a pdf of their schedule to post for all those interested. I believe they have a match scheduled each month from April through October.

Hornell, NY was mentioned already...another great group of people to shoot with. They usually hold a couple of matches each summer. It's always a very relaxed and enjoyable time there!

I'm fairly sure that we'll be holding a match or two this year in Trenton, NY. I've started working out the details, and I'm hoping to present them to the club's directors next month for an official approval. I'll be sure to post that information once we have any dates/times determined.

As Chuck mentioned, there's a potential for an indoor AP match this winter at the Oneida Rifle Club. I'm not sure if it's anything that will be 'NRA approved', but I did speak with one of the club directors about that this evening. More information about that will be posted if and/or when it happens.
