Alabama gave a valiant effort, not bad for a team without a head coach. Some pretty tough match-ups for the rest of the bowls, lets see if the SEC can't make it 8-1 in the bowl challenge. I agree that the "school up the road" gave a valiant effort without their head coach. I almost feel sorry for them, but that would be blasphemy. As for the boys in Knoxville, I'm going to give this a try so bear stay with me. Goooooooo V.......V V V...., gasp.... Vols. Man, that was tougher than a 3 second El Prez. By the way, congratulations to Kentucky for a big win over Clemson. As if there weren't enough competition in the SEC, I guess we have to start worrying about them now. This league is starting to become like the NFL. There are no easy games. Anybody can beat you on any given Saturday. The Kentucky players and coaches say the LSU team is the best they have played all year. The SEC is the toughest conference year in and year out. Kentuckys bowl win was a major turning point for the program. Its been 22 years since we won a bowl game. It was my freshman year at Kentucky. Just wish a coachless AL could've pulled out a win as well as the razorbacks. Thank gosh USC beat up on MI. It validates that Florida should be in the title game this year. XD Niner Posted January 2, 2007 Share Posted January 2, 2007 (edited) I went to the Capital One Bowl today and saw my alma mater Wisconsin beat the Arkansas Razorbacks. We had some fellow Badgers visiting from Milwaukee and we all had a great time. Since I just saw my adapted alma mater Florida beat the Razorbacks in the SEC Championship a few weeks ago, it felt a little bit like deja vu. Now if the Gators can rise up and smite the over hyped Buckeyes next week, it will be an outstanding Bowl season. 38superman Posted January 2, 2007 Share Posted January 2, 2007 Well, by my count we are 4-3 now with 2 games to go. I'm kinda surprised with the Vols. I really thought they would handle Penn State. Not so surprised with the Hogs. Figured that one could go either way. We tangled with the Badgers last year and it wasn't pretty. Those guys can play a little ball. Thankfully, my boys took care of the Huskers. If we could get our team to play for more that one half in a game it would be nice. Oh well, that's the story of this season. It's never pretty but they find a way to win. Who would have thought that 2 losses in a 13 game season would be considered a mediocre season? I am dissapointed in Tennessee but not surprised. They can be up some days and then flat others. Bama - well, they hurt themselves. Can you believe they are offering $40 million for a coach? Who in their right mind would want it? The sleeper for next year - South Carolina..... watch out, we are loaded next year. We are going to have a phenominal defense and finally depth in offense.. Couple of years ago I was working for a German Company that had an office in Montgomery Al. Most of the employees were here on temporary work visa and lived in Stuttgart. One of the guys, a man named Steffan went exploring on his day off and wandered onto the Auburn University campus. Quite by accident he discovered Jordan-Hare stadium and was overcome with what you might call "shock and awe". The next day at the office we had a conversation that went something like this: (In heavy German accent) "Tony, I vas in small village of Auburn yesterday, and saw huge coliseum". "Yes, that's Jordan-Hare stadium" "Vat must they do there?" "That is the stadium where the university plays American football" "How many seats in this stadium?" "I would guess close to 80,000". "How many people live in village of Auburn?" "I would guess about 20,000" "Vas is need for such large stadium in such small place? "You don't understand, College football is a major event in this country. People travel great distances to see the games". "Perhaps ve could see ein match?" "I can try but it's almost impossible to get tickets". Mien Gott!, How can be no tickets with 80,000 seats ????? I still can't think about it without LMAO.
