EricBudd
Area 8 moves to exempt revolvers from the mag position and box dimensions in Production Division. - Passed I guess, in the 2008 rule book, 7 and 8 shot revolvers could play in production and put their moonclips/speed loaders in front. With the proposal to limit shots per location to 8 rounds (for Single Stack) an 8 shot revolver could be (kinda) competitive in production. I wonder if this change will make it easier for ICORE shooters with 7 & 8 shot guns to come and shoot USPSA?
Waltermitty
Sounds like a move in the right direction. I knew a couple of guys back when the rumors came out about a new revolver division (Circa 1998) went out and bought 8 round guns to compete. When the final rule came down as 6 round reload required, there was some bad feeling. I think the 627 in the right hands could be very competetive. Flexmoney
Well THAT sounds logical. And, with the arrays going back to a max of 8 rounds required from any positin (instead of 9)...those Minor wheel guns have a better place to play. JohnRodriguez
Can we start playing now? or do we have to wait for 2008. If we can shoot now, then i'll shoot the dust devil in march with my 627-4 38 super, and safariland model 560 holster for the N-frame smith. gonna start having fun know. J.Bagakis
That's great I have been shooting my 8-shot in L-10 for some time now and doing pretty good. I like the idea of shooting my Revolver in production. John

Technically, until the new rulebook goes into effect, I think you'd have to keep your moonclips behind the hipbone. I don't think anybody would complain if you violated that provision at most local matches, but I suppose somebody might bitch at a bigger sanctioned match, especially if he was chagrined by being beaten by a wheelie. Of course, you don't need to carry as many moonclips when each of them holds 8 rounds!

cliffwalsh
In L-10, you have to be 40 cal or bigger to make major so by rule a 38 must be minor even if it chronos out at major...

Pay no attention to me. I was still thinking about the revolver rules where you could shoot .357 mag in major, if I remember correctly. I forgot about lim-10 having to be at least .40 in diameter. underlug
Good news. I may sell my GlockThat's never a bad move. I've sold so many, but, I keep coming back. Shooting nine mm and not bending over to pick up empties is so appealing. Revolver has spoiled me into picking up 6 or 8 at a time
shred
Shooting an 8-shot in Production is a lot of fun, but not close to competitive. Those 2 rounds and second or two per reload add up over time. That said, I'm all in favor of letting people that choose to play PD-with-Revo put their ammo up front if they want. Carmoney
I agree with Shred. Playing Production with an 8-shot wheelgun is fun for a stunt, and if you're good (and the competition sorta sucks) you might win some local matches. But that's about it. cylindrically challenged
What would be fun would be if we were allowed to shoot unlimited 8 shot revos at major power factor in with the single stacks. The scopes and comps on the unlimited revolvers would help close the 45 autos 9 shot advantage and quicker reload time. This would be a good close contest where the revo could compete pretty much on an even footing with the single stacks at all levels of competition.
