mscott
Is there any reason to not get the 10 round extension? I'm not planning on shooting open, but I figure a plug would solve the round limit depending on what sort of a match I would be at. I'll need to investigate the rules at any matches around here before going too far. Is reliability an issue with the longer extension? I have a 28" mod barrel, so there's plenty of room. If an 8 round extension and a chopped barrel is the way to go, then I'm not scared of that either.

Looking at the 2004 shotgun rules (I didn't see a refrence in the 2005 rules), for Standard class, the maximum round capacity of the gun is restricted and the gun will have exceeded this capacity if it can be physically loaded with 10 x 70mm (2 3?4 inches) rounds at any one time. If you exceed the capacity, it would you in open.
Scout454
Ft Benning had a 9 round maximum capacity limit. Those of us who complied, plugged. Of the 25 or so 3-gun matches I shoot each year, most stipulate that you start with 9 (8+1). Once the buzzer goes off you can stuff it full of whatever it will handle. Get a 10 and a plug. Most "10's" hold 10 in the tube so they are 10+1. make sure you can plug it to 8+1.
