Redesigned Slide Lock

Hi All,

I own a very new G35 and an older G22. The slide lock on the G35 has an extra triangular shaped extension that fits just behind the locking block pin. The older slide lock lever doesn't have this extra metal. Why did Glock make this change? Getting the pistol reassembled with the new slide lock is much more of a hassel as the extra metal runs up against the locking block pin making it hard to line up the slide lock for the trigger pin.

Thanks

Dave

there are two diff stops that glock puts in it pistols some models get the one with out the triangle and some get the one with the triangle. dont ask me y but it has been this way for sum time now. i think it might have to do with the diff frames.

Pretty sure that the one with the triangular tab on top of the slide lock is for a 2 pin

frame. When they went to the 2 pin lock block (3 pin frame) they did away with the

tab.

That said, I've seen aftermarket slide stops that were supposed to fit "all models"

that had the tab. If you can get it in, the tab will hit the lock block pin on a 3 pin frame

and not allow the slide stop to rise and lock the slide back.

Did you buy the G35 new? Sounds like it's got the wrong slide lock in it. The fix is

easy---grind off the triangular tab. Make sure you have the lock block pin in before you

try to install the trigger pin/slide lock. The spring on the slide lock goes UNDER to lock block pin!

This is all good information. Thanks. However, I do need to clear up a few points to make sure we're all on the same page.

My G35 is very new, last six months, and the frame has two pins just above the trigger. The larger pin is the trigger pin and the smaller/upper pin is the locking block pin. Of course there is the trigger housing pin but that's not relavent to my problem.

Which slide lock lever is supposed to be in this gun, the lever with a triangular extension pointing up just behind the trigger pin hole or the one without?

If the slide lock lever with the triangular extension is supposed to go into my G35 then please give me some hints on how to fit it in there. My problem is that when the locking block pin is in the frame I can't get the hole in the slide lock lever to line up for the trigger pin because the extra triangle of metal hits the locking block pin. I can't put the locking block pin in after the slide lock lever is installed because the triangle of metal blocks the pin hole.

Thanks for any additional help.

David,

Any chance that part got mixed with your G22 part? Does you G22 have the extra locking block pin? (I only thought that extra tabbed part came on the early G17's, but the idea is clearly dependent on the extra locking block pin.)

Next thing...

It sounds like you don't have an extended lever (on the outside) at all ? (You didn't get the extended release version with your G35?)

Flex,

The older generation G22 I just picked up came with a standard slide lock lever in the gun and an extended slide lock lever. The only difference between the two is a rather small external triangular protrusion of metal. Nothing dramaticly different like I expencted being familiar with 1911 extended slide locks. Neither slide lock lever had the extra internal triangle of material and the G22 is a 3 pin frame.

The G35 I received from Glock USA came with an extended (small external bump) slide lock lever and when I first disassembled it to install the RS Trigger Kit I had a beast of a time getting it together and there was very little up and down motion to the slide lock lever but it did function properly. When investigating trigger reset problems about 600 rounds later I couldn't manage to get the gun back together so the slide lock would work and that's when I got you guys involved.

I put my spare slide lock lever from the G22 in the G35 and will try it out this afternoon. Hopefully, the trigger will reset properly, otherwise it's time to ditch the aftermarket stuff and try the .25 trigger job on the factory parts.

Later and thanks for all the help.

Your still dealing with function issues, so I shouldn't have brought that up yet. I was just thinking ahead and wondering if you'd shot with one of those extended levels much. I've had to take them out of my guns, and most of the shooters that use a thumbs forward grip tend to get rid of them too. In the heat of the moment, then get bumped in recoil.

It sounds like your had the chance to play with them some...

I've got a standard slide lock lever on order and it's going in asap. The RS trigger is coming out and the factory parts are going back in polished. I just need to search for the instructions for the 25 cent trigger job. The RS Kit was great for a while but now the trigger consistantly won't reset. Today I got about 70 rounds downrange before the reset problem reared its ugly head and then it happened every third round or so.

Thanks everyone for all the help. Flex, I'll be in touch regarding trigger work.

Slide stop----3 pin frame takes a stop without the tab. Smooth on top.

Trigger reset------It worked for 600 rds then had reset problems? Replace the striker

spring. That usually cures it. I have totally quit using light striker springs. Had too many

of them go south, both on my own guns and others. The trigger spring pulls the trigger back, striker spring pushes it forward. Weak striker spring=no reset.

Another possibility is the trigger spring--I've had an aftermarket spring on a redrilled

trigger bar turn on the trigger bar end, causing the tip of the spring loop to drag in the

housing. That one will about drive you nuts!

Thanks Bill,

I put the stock striker spring in the morning and kept the rest of the RS trigger kit in the gun. The reset is much stronger and while the pull is a bit heavier the trigger still has a nice feel to it.

I'll try to test fire today if the rain lets up. The neighbors will just have to put up with a little of my own Christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas

Dave
