jetflyer
I just bought the Pact MK4 XP timer/chronograph. I followed the instructions to install the software FIRST onto my computer, then turn the timer ON and plug in the USB connection. The CHT timer software will not go past the initial "Searching for Device" screen. Although Windows XP has recognized the USB serial device(timer) on Com11 and says the device is ready to use, the CHT software does not pick it up. The CHT program's green progress bars just continue to scroll, and never find the timer. I have tried every combination of startup, including putting the timer into the OPTN mode and getting to the timer screen that says "WAITING FOR PC"... with shot string data awaiting transfer. I called PACT, and they were no help at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software too. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

shred
COM 11 is way up there. See if Windows will put it down in the lower Com ranges-- Try Com 3 or 4 if you don't have a raft of real serial ports installed-- you can probably do that from Device manager and properties. jetflyer
Switching to a lower Com port setting solved the problem. Many thanks!
