wide45
Looks like you have been to the FAQ You don't need a lot of features to run matches. Is that all the timers will be asked to do?
XD Niner
The CED 7000 is the newest timer on the market. I believe it will do everything you need and then some for a very reasonable price. I have a CED 8000. I wouldn't recommend it as a club timer because of its construction. However, it is an outstanding personal timer. I think the 7000 over comes the structural concerns while still providing all the critical functions.
wide45
Can you give the timer to a new RO, with 20 seconds of instruction, and expect him to get through a squad without timer trouble? Most of the club type timers will pass this test. The big Pact MK IV will not.
michaels
One function that I really love is a big display that can be easliy pointed to the ARO while I'm doing the unload and show clear on the shooter. I've tried it with my CED7000 and a big Pact and it's hard to do, but those little blue timers really work good for that. Another function that I just learned about this weekend was making sure the timer can adjust for sensitivity of the type of round going off. We had a rimfire pistol/rifle match and had to crank up each timer to make sure it could pick up the rimfires...some of the timers had that function and some didn't... and did I mention waterproof...we shoot in the rain, pain in the butt when the timers fog up and quit... michaels

wide45
Hm.. "push the green button to start, read off the time at the end" doesn't do it? Nope. You can tell them "Don't push any button except the green one. If you get stuck, turn it off, and back on." 3 competitors later they are in chrono mode, and want you to fix it so they can write down the time. At the slightest hint of rain, seal the timer in a Ziplock bag.
