I'm just spreading the word to all the shooters in VA, NC, SC, TN, KY, WV, PA, DC, and MD that I'm once again promoting the 4th Annual, Law Enforcement/Military Combat Shoot to benefit Special Olympics, held here in Roanoke, Virginia. The event will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the Roanoke Regional Law Enforcement Firearms Training Academy. This is an "action pistol" match based upon IDPA rules. It is a 6-Stage event and the round count is around 85-90 (bring more ammo if you like to shoot more)----we will have a 7th stage which will be a side, shotgun match (we provide the shotgun/ammo, you pay $5.00 per attempt). There will be vendors on hand, shooter's packs for competitors, and we'll be giving away 10K-15K in prizes. Breakfast and lunch are provided at no cost.

THIS MATCH IS OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC!!!! There will be an "Open Division" for civilian shooters and a "Law Enforcement/Military Division" for cops and soldiers. Entry is $25.00 (preregistered) and $30.00 on the day of the event. The stages are going to be pretty exciting---they include: Shooting into/from vehicles, shooting from cover/on the move, shooting from conventional/unconventional positions, and even negotiating a real, ballistic shoothouse. All stages will represent real-life use-of-force situations for military/law enforcement, including: reacting to ambushes, high risk warrant service, response to active shooters, high risk traffic stops, and hostage situations.

We have a blast every year, and we'd appreciate it if you could pass the word on to interested people if you get the opportunity. There is more information here: http://www.pkcarroll.com/2006Benefit.pdf

I've tried 2 different times to reserve a room, but have never made past the "our government rate is $119. I've left 2 vm's for MS Hash, no return call yet. I think I'll try another place, because this sounds like fun.
