This may sound like a newbie question but...I'm sure the answers could be helpful to many folks.

"Sighting In"

IRON SIGHTS:

Question #1: When sighting in a gun with iron sights. If the holes are being punched into the target to the right of where you have the sights aligned which way do you move the rear sight.

Question #2: If the holes are being punched in the target above where you are aiming which way do you move the rear sight

Question #3 when if ever do you adjust the front sight?

OPTICS:

Question #1: When sighting in a gun with an optical sight (red dot, scope, etc) do you move the dot to the hole or move the hole to the dot. Meaning if the holes are being punched to the right of where you are aiming do you adjust your dot to the left or right.

"Hold Over"

If you sight a gun in for a given yardage where do you aim to hit that same point when closer or further away from your original sight in distance.

SORRY for so many questions these things keep me up at night.
