I was surfing the otherand found this site www.casperracing.com/range_cart.htm anyone ever seen or used these?

Check your local farmer's co-op - this looks suspiciously like the ~$80 "muck carts" the co-op's near me stock. The rounded bit of framework over the axle retains a large, round poly tub.

Only reason I haven't bought and fitted one out is the spousal noise over the copious number of cart iterations already cluttering up the garage...

Good eye. A google for "muck cart" turned up this http://www.horse.com/products/gift-0__sku-BRE30.html

$44. For a hundred bucks I could probably cobble something together to hold the gun

barrels.

It looks okay for Highpower (small wheels). Having done both things, bigger wheeled carts work better for 3 gun, the ranges tend to be less smooth on the "practical ranges" than Highpower ranges.

Just my opinion/ obsevation.

I purchased the ruggedgear.com cart last year when they were $269.00. They have lowered the price to $229.00 now. If you have the means I highly recommend this cart...I would gladly pay the $269.00 again. The large rubber tires makes it easy to push on ALL types of ranges from grass to deep gravel. It has 2 long gun racks and plenty of room for piston, shotgun, and rifle ammo with lots of room to spare. The one you mentioned from casperracing for $149.00 is JOKE compared to this one.......Again I am 100% completly satisified with the ruggedgear cart. Of course this is just my opinion.

+1

I got one for Christmas '04 and I love it.

Go to Babies-R-Us, buy an Expedition Jogger for $99.99, go to Cabela's, buy two pair of ATV tube mount gun racks, about $60. Cut the support off the cart for the sun bonnet.

This cart will comfortabley hold the large shooters connection range bag, an extra pistol hard case, two long guns whil still allowing access to your range bag, since unlike the Rugged Gear it holds the long guns outboard, not over your bag. the bottom net area carries your empty brass, shotgun hulls etc.

I looked at both wyas as well as a lot of other solutions. I almost bought the unit that hte Rugged Gear is built on, but when I realized that the Shooter's Connect bag doesn't fit that well, my decision was made.

Just like the RG, this unit folds compactly for easy carrying in your trunk. I would think it would fall under the same regulation regarding a baby stroller when flying, maybe take the gun carriers off and carry them in your luggage along with a 7/16" wrench to reinstall at your destination. It works well as a luggage cart!

+2 on the Rugged Gear cart. Bruce Kelly (Rugged Gear) has been fantastic with customer service on the carts. Bruce is always wanting to know how he can improve the carts and any other thing that he can create to make life around the range easier.

I have a large duffel bag that the cart fits in with the wheels removed and I will be flying to Albany with it at the end of the month. The arms that hold the guns can be mounted out to the side to keep it out of the center of the cart so that you can get to your bags, and you can adjust the arms futher down the side of the cart for those shorter rifles. Getting around the range is very easy with the large wheels.

I have had mixed experiences with trying to check the cart at the gate, so now I always use the duffel bag.

I found a cart like that at Target, ATV gun mounts for $9.99, replaced the nuts on the U bracket with wing nuts. Leave gun mounts off for pistol.

I bought the jogger off of craigslist for $40 brand new. I cut off the sun visor and seatbelts and bought the gun racks from Academy for about $45. I started out with the cheap $14 gun rack and the plastic stripped out in a couple of hours. All together I have about $90 invested in the war wagon and I love it. It folds up and fits neatly in my truck.

I found a stroller being given away by the side of the road. Stripped off the sun shade and attached four "U" brackets that were $.59 apiece at HD. Total investment $2.48 :)

Cool.

Looks like I could stick my range bucket (5gal. with lid) on that deck and have a nice place to sit too.

i get the 2 long guns, plus a mega bag full of tons of ammo and speed loaders, knee pads, ec, on top of that my pistil shooting bag, bungee them and away i go. will carry tons of weight. tried a case of miller lite too, works fine for after match training...

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this thread is the one that sold me on getting the welding cart, over a: wagon/ jogging stroller/ dolly/ etc...

My 3-Gun competition cart is nearly done. Should be done today.

Cart is for me and my shooting buddy, to hold/ carry our long guns (two rifles & two shotguns, with one extra slot for a spare 5th long gun) and all our ammo and gear. The welding cart will work for us, as I take my p/u truck to most of the local matches here in SOCAL.

Cart reconfigured and painted.

3guncart006dg1.th.jpg 3guncart005wx1.th.jpg

I just replaced/upgraded all the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, u-bolts, spacers, etc...) with better quality hardware from Home Depot, the hardware that came with the cart were low quality. I mounted the swiveling tray in a different position (about a foot + higher on the handle) and painted the unit OD Green.

Made a (½" Birch) plywood box with two compartments below for: a range bag or three ammo cans, and a smaller compartment in the rear for more ammo & misc items. An upper angled shelf with dividers for the long guns butt stocks, an upper rack to secure the forearm/hand guards. Shelf on the back for a small cooler.

I just threw a full compliment of long guns on and some misc range gear & ammo, to test the size/fitting and weight balance. Running around the backyard making it as rough as possible, to see what moves. The long guns didn't move a bit. I even flipped it completely forward/ horizontally to see if the long guns would fall off. They stayed put. :)

The small cooler isn't sitting on the cooler shelf I built for it in the pics, but it fits nicely in the notch I cut out to access the smaller compartment in the lower level. This small cooler is only good for a six pack of cans. Need one a tiny bit larger/ taller, to fit Gatorade and water bottles. Going shopping today to look for a cooler more appropriate. The other ones I have are either too small (pictured) or too big.

The long guns don't move at all, when secured with the small bungee cords and how they are angles by the lower shelf & upper rack. You can go off-roading with the cart and the guns stay put. Things are padded or covered with something soft, so that it won't mar the finish on the guns.

I originally was planning to get a couple of those Double Fin Grip ATV rifle racks, but they weren't going to get here in time for this weekend's match. So, I improvised the top rack that holds the forearms/ hand guards. It's working out so well, that I'm not ordering them now.

Going to finish up a few more ideas and give it a try tomorrow at the local 3-gun match. It'll probably be revised slightly as we get to try it out in real life. But, for the most part... it's probably going to work fine as is.

I could make this unit fold up to fit in a large trunk. I replaced the cotter pins for the wheels with these quick release clips. So the wheels can come off in a matter of seconds. The top handle portion could have the nuts replaced with knobs instead. So you could take the four bolts out without using a wrench. Just an idea... if someone needs the cart to break down into smaller components.
