Bird -

The sun shines on a dogz azz every once in a while.  I can say this, it is certainly not a skill I can call up at will, on demand.  Not yet anyway. 10% Skill, 90% luck.  Oh, it was a 1911 (SV ext dustcover 40) BTW.  After I had an AD with my HK (hit the trigger when I went for the mag release), I sold it and bought the SV.   Loved the gun, hated the mag release.

well, maybe it wasn't a fluke....

my best run today, although not perfect and a true Bill Drill, was 2.62s/29pts/11.069hf.   It was witnessed.  My next fastest out of 6 recorded runs was 2.68 secs.  Again, I know it is not official unless it is all A's.  However, I doubt even Mr. Wilson himself had all A's his first runs.

every dog has his day, and good dogs have two...

Because in an upcoming qualifiermatch one of the stages will be :

T1 at 8 yards, gun in ready condition holstered

6 rounds on T1, virginia count

i tried it yesterday at the range

2.17 sec/ 27 pt

2.07 sec/ 26 pt

2.37 sec/ 26 pt

First shot consistent between 1.12 / 1.15

After these 3 runs i thought to be smart and put only 6 rounds in the mag so i didn't have to count the rounds fired and just could empty the mag as quick as possible. Well that didn't work .

Because i didn't count i stopped after the 5th round and made a .82 split for the 6th.

I also missed the weight of the additional 13 pieces .40 rounds in my glockmag also so guncontrolwas also poor.

It's true that the Bill Drill, popularized by The Great One and myself, was invented by Bill Wilson, and the original drill was shot at 7 yds. I remember when he told us about his idea for the drill one year when we were at his place practicing for Bianchi. When we returned home all we did was shoot that drill until we "could do" it. (7yds, 2 secs., all A's, surrender start.)

I am with Duane, I thought they called it the Bill Drill 'cause Bill Wilson designed it.

1.79     30 pts

1.77      30 pts

1.82      30 pts

About average, it won't win any stage drills, but I won't be last and it won't cost me the match.  The Hot rocks do it in the high 1.50.

Sounds like Brain was there.

I did a bit of digging (this stuff was on MY computer, just had to find it).

Does this sound about right?

THE "BILL DRILL"

According to Bill Wilson, this is the original Bill Drill:

The idea of all strings is to get the best possible hits.

One target at seven yards.

String 1:  Fire 6 shots slowly and make the smallest group you can.

String 2:  Fire 6 shots with about .50 splits between each shot.

String 3:  Fire 6 shots as fast as you can.
