There is no question in my mind that this should be a DQ for unsafe gun handling.

I do not buy the "movement" logic, though, as that could easily be misinterpreted. If I'm shifting the gun from a high target to a low one while standing erect in the exact same place and I glance away from the sights to the target and have my finger on the trigger, I'm DQ'd. Sorry but that is not "movement" as defined in the rule book. All that is moving is my arms and eyes and I can't take my finger in and out of the trigger guard that fast.

I would rather use 'unsafe gun handling'. That saves arguments about what 'movement' is.

From the green book:

FOURTH LAW... KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL

YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET!

Even if the comp. claims an unaimed shot he still violated one of the Golden Rules.

That is, by definition, unsafe gun handling.

If he claims the gun went off by itself then his gun is out.

Either way, he's done shooting.

Ummm...not really. You can zero the stage and replace your gun and keep shooting...it MUST be a DQ, not competitor equipment malfunction. ;)
